Belize: Family of 4 from Canada looking to move to paradise:

My family is thinking of relocating to your lovely country.  Would you be able to assist me with a few questions we may have along the way.  We are early 40's with an 11 and 13 year old and 2 dogs. Currently we reside in the Toronto Canada area and are looking to slow down and enjoy life.  We are not rich by any means...but we can live comfortably.  After looking around i think that corozal would be the best place to start for us? We are planning on making a trip there in late March....early April...for 2 to 4 weeks just to get a feel and look at properties.  Thank you for your time.
