Ecuador: Cuenca retirement:
10/29/07
Greatly appreciate any comments on why Cuenca good/not good retirement
area. Any comments re: Quito? Am interested in suburb rental room in private family home. No want live in any big/noisy/dirty/crime-ridden/polluted
place. How u compare Ecuador with
Panama/Costa Rica/Argentina/Uruguay?
Lived Costa Rica 1996-97/2002. Attended ARCR(Association of Resi-
dents of CR) retirement & investment
seminar 4/05 San Jose. Xlnt info &
Ryan Piercy & other ARCR reps willing to meet/chat about CR retirement de-
tails. However, notice great price in-
crease in real estate/public transport/
consumerism since 1996. Visited Pan-
ama City/Boquete 2006. City´s too
humid & all negs mentioned above about big city living. Tennessee expat
in Boquete said fed up being robbed
most every time left rented casa for
visits elsewhere outside Panama. My
retired friend in California very inter-
ested in New Zealand as says from his
research NZ appears relatively sane &
safe society. Any comments about any-
thing I´ve said here are much appre-
ciated. Thank you all.

Ecuador: English newspapers:
Hi, All- Any English language newspapers in Ecuador? Also, friendly warning: Thieves everywhere in EC,
especially airport/bus terminals. Back-
pack stolen Cuenca bus terminal 10/27.
On floor right next to me in waiting area for buses. Luckily, only old clothes & nothing of importance to thieves. A
police report made & copies for me & EC embassy in USA. Of course, great doubt matter even considered further, as this happens frequently, even in USA. Any help re: English newspapers is
greatly appreciated.
