Ireland: The INIS process:

I'm new to this forum, so here goes. I have read the information on the INIS website regarding the requirements for obtaining a Stamp 0 and permission to remain, and I came up with two questions, for now: it appears that a police background check is required. What have others done in this regard? Do I need to have the FBI investigate me before I emigrate from the US? What about verifying my income with an Irish accountant: are there specialists who do this kind of work, and where would I look to find them? I am hoping to live in Ireland for only a year, so I'm not worried about the long-term issues surrounding retiring to Ireland permanently. Any advice or recounting of your experience would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all in advance.
