I'm basically in a similar boat as far as wanting to get out of the sinking ship. My fiance and I have connections to people in France, Ecuador, India, and Ghana. ATM, we have the most useful info about Moving to France under a Student Visa or moving to Ghana with a special extended visa (the name of which eludes me at the moment) which opens one up to applying for a work visa later). As for helpful bits of advice from my digging into expatriation, so far: If you personally know any expats living abroad, talk to them first and pick their brains, it was extremely helpful in narrowing my inquiry into how to go about this. That said, I'm on this forum now, to glean ideas/avenues of approach.
