Costa Rica: Don't be afraid about the interview:

A lot of people have come to me very nervous about the interview at the Immigration when applying for residency. A Tico guy who married a Canadian lady was afraid that they would ask questions about his wife's grandmother.LOL! I understand it's very intimidating the fact that they separate the wife and the husband. Each one goes to a different room! Let me see: they asked me if I write with my left hand or right hand. They asked me the color of my condo. They asked me my level of education in my home country, The guy didn't speak a word in English but I'm blessed because Spanish and Portuguese are very similar even though I applied as a Canadian Citizen. I even made the guy laugh! When I noticed he was writing with his left hand I told him that people say that thise who write with their left hand are very smart like President Obama because he too writes with his left hand. So I told him that one day he could become the President of Costa Rica and he laughed! My point is: don't be afraid because they won't ask you any hard questions and certainly they won't ask you about your spouse's great grandmother!-LOL!

Costa Rica: New owner in Playa del coco:

I bought my furniture at San Carlos Hardware and my appliances at Monge. If you pay cash they will give you a big discount but you need to ask for it! My husband told them that he was going to Liberia to buy furniture but if they would give him a good discount he would get it from them. They did! Then he said the same thing at Monge.

Costa Rica: What happened to Ann Bender?:

In the past week CNN showed a documentary about this case. I came across it 3 times!

Costa Rica: The Corporate Tax is back!:

I just found this article. The annual corporate tax is back in July. http://news.co.cr/costa-ricas-annual-corporate-tax-is-back/58185/

Costa Rica: expats leaving CR:

It's me, Pombinha! I deleted all the history and cookies on my laptop and when this Forum asked for my password I couldn't remember it! They kept saying they would send it to my email but they never did! I tried several times! So I had to register again! Well, lindylovesCR has already given the answer I was going to give to Bluewind! I don't need to chill out indeed! I'm not the one angry and bitter! As for those who say it has been hard to get residency you should ask your lawyers why. As long as you get the right documents and they are properly notarized (or Apostiled) authenticated and stamped and you make the required deposits in the Embassy of Costa Rica there is no need for delays! All this involves a lawyer or Notary, Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Costa Rica as well as their bank account. I applied before I moved to CR. Make sure your lawyer knows about the Immigration law of Costa Rica! I didn't use my realtor lawyer for this purpose! I used a lawyer who is an expert and that in fact helped write the Immigration laws of Costa Rica! I also prayed to get approved as soon as possible since we were going to sell our house and get rid of everything. One of my concerns was to get medical care (Caja) before we would lose our medical care in Canada. Good luck!

Costa Rica: 90 day border jumpers:

Hey LindyLuvesCR, I just feel very offended! Why do you think I wouldn't find it funny?-LOL! Well, I may not go back to Nicaragua to buy groceries but I may go back to get a decent haircut again! When I got a haircut here my daughter told me that I looked like Curly from the 3 Stooges! Then I got a haircut in Granada and men and women came to me saying how nice my hair looked! Unless Pebbalita knows how to cut my hair!-Or you Lindy!

Costa Rica: Private School Suggestions for Atenas and Grecia:

Kohl, You made me laugh!

Costa Rica: JUST for FUN!:

Pebbalita and LindyLuvsCR, I have good news! I went to Ebais Yesterday and the doctor says that my test (for the ugly thing I had in the past) was negative! It was a lady doctor and she also congratulated me because I had lost 1 1/2 Kilo. I had to laugh because I should have lost much more than that! She said that in SEptember when I go back there she wants for me to have lost at least 3 Kilos. I told her that when she sees me again she won't recognize me because I'm going to look like a model! We both had a good laugh! Another thing that impressed me again and that I have already mentioned here somewhere, is how much patience the Ticos have! They never complain about waiting for several hours! There was one more gringo there and they (the locals) always treat us like one of them! Every time I go to the doctor I make new friends!

Khol, I just want to add the the 1.000.00 must be in US dollars.

Costa Rica: Bringing pets into Costa Rica:

About pets: Here where I live the new Board is making a war on cats and dogs! I feel so sad! My husband had to stand up on the annual meeting to defend a cat that was born here and this is the only home he knows! He is a natural hunter but we also give him food and take him to the vet. My heart breaks for those who are renters and who have pets!-Even the homeowners now are not allowed to have pets, they say. Last night I was exchanging emails about this subject with another homeowner who lives in Australia. A lady with Parkinson's disease who has a little dog for emotional support and who has all the legal papers for the dog, is now being the casualty of the new board. We are trying to help her! Please pray for her!
