Australia: Cost of Electricity:
Hi there
I have been trying to work out the cost of electricity in Brisbane. But the electricity search, only brings up company information - not charges. Can anyone help with what a typical electricity bill would be for summer (air con or fans on) and winter.
Much appreciate any help
Australia: Cost of Living:
Hi just back from Oz, I seem to find the cost of living a bit higher than what I have in Hong Kong. Simple things taken for granted here in HK is internet, cable TV, telephone and mobile - telephone is rental only, no call charges. Mobile is not pay a set amount and call prices are deducted. We pay a monthly plan that includw so many minutes of usage. Internet Broadband here is cable with unlimited access. Cable TV we choose what channels we want. So, as you can see I am confused.
In australia I picked up leaflets for mobile plans and they talk about CAPS and Flag Fall charges - what is this about?
Cable TV seems that you can only choose a set package - is that correct?
Telephone - you pay line rental + call charges. Is there a company that does similar to HK?
Internet - it seems that on ASDL is available in some places and you have to choose a storage plan. I there a company that does cable broadband?
Another question that may sem silly is - If you have broadband connected 24/7 - do you have telephone call charges on this as well?
Hope someone out there can help me get through this confusion as it seems a pretty expensive place to live in this technology age.
Thanks
I picked up
Australia: Superannuation confusion!!:
Hi all
I have been over to Brisbane for an interview and I am getting conflicting stories about superan. The website only talks about employer contributing their 9%. Looking at the website it looks like employee contributions are optional! Am I reading this right?
People in Australia say it is employer contribution and some say employer + employee contribution. Can anyone guide me on this?
Much appreciate clarification on this
Australia: URGENT 457 visa - can my wife work?:
Hi
I am being offered a 457 visa for employment in Australia. Can my wife work when we get there, as a dependant on my visa, or will she need her own visa?
Australia: Questions needing answers:
Hi there
We are expats from the UK living in Asia, but may have the opportunity to go to Brisbane. We have been out of the UK for a number of years so are unfamiliar with a few things. I've searched the web-but getting nowhere fast.
Can anyone tell us:
1) Is this superannuation that is talked about only paid by the employer or does the employee also have to contibute?
2) Trying to find out the cost of living i.e how much for petrol, electricity, gas, phone, internet service, milk, bread and meat?
These may sound silly q's but after living so long in Asia, we are totally out of touch on these things.
Many thanks for anybody that can advise/answer us.
Margaret
