Norway: A few vital questions, Need help!:

Hi there, look I had a lot of the same problems whilst pregnant in NOrway. They only gave me a scan at 15 weeks since I was bleeding. They refuse to do it. The thing about the Norwegian system is that it is a system, all for the goverment. It is about saving money. I moved to another country and got private health care for virtually nothing and delivered by C -section. In norway they did not want to give me a C-section even though I had problems with my first delivery. They just follow the book. So I would sugest that you go to UK for a scan if that is what you need to do because no amount of shouting, crying or begging will make them change the way they do anything. I wish you all the best and good luck. I had many more problems whilst pregnant in Norway and liturally moving country was a deciding factor because of all the issues.

Qatar: IS THAT ENOUGH?:

Hi there, Sorry I do not think it is enough. Qatar is very expensive I know you get a car and accomodation but unless they stipulate in the contract that they will pay more do not do it as there is a 2 year ban on anyone who leaves a job. So if you are offered a better job after arriving you won't be able to budge. Look for a higher paying job first. Good luck

Norway: Cost of Living:

Be careful buying a car if you are near Oslo there is no place to park and if there is it's very expensive. I bought a car I could not sell and had to drop the price really low to get rid of it. Even the building I was living in charged 100 US $ extra for parking. Check the place you are going to live first. Parking attendants are everywhere and even alot of office buildings do not allow employees to park so you may end up taking public transport anyway which is not pleasant in winter. As for electricity bills we had one for 500 US $ even when we tried to limit our heating though this was in winter. Some apartment buildings include electricity in the rent I suggest you try and find one of those buildings. As for taxes they are everywhere and on everything. Good luck

Norway: moving to Norway:

Don't do it. Change your plans, unpack your suitcase. I am a Norwegian who also lived in Drammen many years ago. I moved from Sandvika a year ago. The people are difficult and rude and the prices of everything are sky high. The tax man is always out to get you. It is a socialist country and everything goes to the government. Tax varies from 28% (low income) to 55 %( high income), everyone ends up with the same amount. I have waited in the emergency room of the hospital for 4 hours whilst being pregnant and that happened several times, and when I complained everyone else thought I was the strange one as this is normal practice. When I moved to Drammen from Singapore as a kid and when I got there I did not speak Norwegian. The Norwegian children were relentless in beating me up as I was different and also used ride over me with their bikes. There is no detention in schools and parents do nothing to help. So if you have children who are not local I suggest you keep an eye on them. Schools start at 6 years old and are not very good. The Norwegians seem to think Norway is the best country on earth and keep telling you health care is free. Well it's not free when they tax you 55%. You also pay about 20$ for each DR visit unless you're pregnant. Food is outrageously expensive (25%VAT on supermarket items) and the immigrant shops are the cheaper ones to shop in (they have quite a good one in Drammen I was there recently). Sorry but they are very very racist and the good jobs are left for Norwegians and foreigners get cleaning jobs (unless highly educated and headhunted). I started working in a very well reputed company (multinational): two months later I got fired for being pregnant and they told me to my face that was the reason. Yes it is not legal but it happens all the time. Just do not go with any expectations. My husband always thought it would be a nice place to live, but now he will not go back even if it was the last country on earth!. He was shocked and disappointed with the country and the people. My best wishes to you but I don't envy you. I'm currently residing in Lebanon and it's fantastic

Kuwait: Can you be banned from Kuwait by your employer?:

Hi, can you be banned from the country when changing jobs? Is Kuwait like the UAE? Looking at moving to Kuwait but need to know if changing jobs can affect your future employment. Are you stuck with your "sponsor" ? Is it the same as Dubai unless you work in media city etc. you can banned from the country for 6 months if your sponsor puts a ban on you. Any info on this topic is appreciated.

Kuwait: Changing jobs:

Hi guys, My husband & I are thinking of moving to Kuwait. Is it hard to change jobs or can you be banned from the country for 6 months or so like the UAE?
