Uruguay: What is enough income for residency?:

Johnny, $1000 income per month should be accepted by immigration for residency for an individual because lots of locals here make much less. My only income was $1000 SS when I applied for residency in 2012. The letter you received from SS outlining your benefit amount would be considered proof of income. Candy

Uruguay: Is social secuirty from US taxed by Uruguay?:

Uruguay does not tax outside income, and SS is not taxed. I receive my SS here in UY by direct deposit through a savings account at an Uruguayan bank. Candy

Uruguay: Mobile/Manufactured Homes:

Hello Joey, If you go to the website www.gallito.com and enter the code 7790755 you will see some small model homes for sale by Encamp,a realtor in Atlantida. You would have to have a plot of land to put it on Candy

Uruguay: SS income:

Uruguay doesn't tax income earned outside of the country, so your SS income is not taxable in UY.

Uruguay: Visa run to BA:

Morell is correct. If you are from the U.S. you have to pay a reciprocal entry fee ot $160 USD before you enter Argentina. In the past this was only due if you were flying into the country; now it applies to entry by any means. Having a temporary or permanent cedula will not protect you from what I understand, as it's based on citizenship not residency. I've lived here five years without ever renewing my original 90 day visa. You don't have to. Two years in (2011) I visited Buenas Aires on just my passport and there were no consequences at all at either border. There is a possibility of a fine when exiting UY I guess, but such a fine would be very small, maybe $25 USD, a lot cheaper than traveling to BA.

Uruguay: PRIVATE MESSAGES:

Trying to inform admin that private messages are not getting through. Not able to e-mail admin either. Help!

Uruguay: expat meetings:

Hi Sergei, MVD expats meet every Sunday at 2 pm at restaurant La Paponita, corner of 18 de julio and Minas, across from the park in the Cordon barrio. Find another meeting at website TotalUruguay.com. Atlantida expats meet every 1st and 3rd Thursday at restaurant El Autor on the pedestrian walkway downtown near Calle 22, two doors down from restaurant Don Vito. Enjoy! Candy

Uruguay: Uruguay Immigration Service Providors:

Edward, Please, please, please DO NOT use Schickendanz.. They will charge you much more than they should and your residency will not be processed any quicker. I know of two expats here who had horrible experiences with these lawyers. You do not need a MVD lawyer to process your residency. What you need is a local or residence expat to help you. Candy

Uruguay: Urgent Med Info Needed:

Yes, whatever medical provider he is signed up with is where he needs to go for medical treatment. All the hospitals are in Montevideo. If it is urgent he can go to the emergency center of the assigned hospital rather than wait for an appointment. Lots of doctors speak English, but he will be assigned to whatever doctor is on call. If he has a health care provider there will be no charge for emergency treatment or hospitalization but they will need to know your client number. He can also go to the British Hospital and be guaranteed English speaking care, but unless that is his provider, they will expect payment and it will be VERY costly. Good luck and tell him not to worry, medical care is good here, I know.

Fiji: Tonga expats:

I know this is a Fiji forum, but I am hoping to find someone who has moved to Tonga. Please e-mail me at gardeniagardengirl@gmail.com. Thanks, Candy
