Hi! Not sure about Fez but Casablanca has a large expat community. You can check out Internations sight and see if any one there has contacts with expats in Fez. Good luck Hope you can link up with others in your area.

Morocco: Moving your personal belongings to Morocco:

We used a shipping co. that lets you pack and they ship the crate or container for you. I carried all my jewelry with me on the flight. Well at least any jewelry of value. The costume pieces I shipped. If you are only shipping a small amount you can ship a crate as a shared container. I do believe it was a $250 min. The crate we shipped was just under $700 and came out to be about $10 a sq foot. Not too bad. When packing you need to do a very detailed inventory. If shipping books i was told you need to list each book. We got lucky and they did not make us unload our 20 foot container but we are getting ready to go get the crate this week and are crossing our fingers we do not half to empty it at the port for inspection. Just a lot of work to unpack and repack. Good luck!

Morocco: US appliances in Morocco:

It will be cheaper to purchase a transformer and use your appliances in Morocco then it would be to purchase new ones in Morocco. Now it will be an issue for a clothes dryer and they pull so much power it is not worth it as it would require a bIG transformer. We are in the process of moving to Morocco and will be taking our fridge , washer, vacuum, and small kitchen appliances. When purchasing transformers you might want to get isolation transformers as they are the best for reliable voltage control. Good luck!

Morocco: Living under Muslim Law:

Hi! I have 2 kids and they have US passports. I have always traveled with my kids alone in and out of Morocco. Only once have they bothered me about where their Dad was. That was when the youngest was about 5 and as we were waiting for our flight he was crying because we were leaving with out Daddy. They just asked where his Father was and i assured him he had brought us to the Airport and it was not a problem. My husband always takes us to the airport and helps with bags as we check in so that helps. You could have a letter drafted and notarized as you said and it would not hurt if needed. But i would say in most cases you would not need it. Good luck!

Morocco: Shipping from US:

Hi! You can get cereal and peanut butter in Morocco. Not sure about the area you were in but in bigger cities like Marrakech and Casablanca you can find them in Marjane. The peanut butter dose come in small jars but it is good.

Morocco: Crazy Canuck Adventure:

Hi! I must say i would never put my kids on the back of a bike on a trip around Morocco. They will be cutting you off passing way too close and possibly running you over. I have seen quite a few moped drivers sprawled out on the pavement after being hit by cars and have even seen one pinned still standing up between 2 cars that had pinned it between them. My BIL laughed when i told him about it and said how that happens all the time. Also leaving a tent unattended in a camp ground you will come back to nothing. I thought that is what would happen and i asked my nephew who is Moroccan and he said that is a fact! He also said he would never put his child on the back of a bike or in a bike trailer and try to ride around Morocco. Too dangerous. Now rent a car and do the trip would be a much better idea. I have never felt physically in Morocco but with the traffic and lack of respect for others on the road i would never try such a bike trip with little ones. What ever you decide good luck! It is a great place to visit.

Morocco: Moving to Casablanca with kids:

Hi! I have only lived in Morocco for about 4 months and am now back in the uS packing uo stuff to ship and selling the house so i have some knowledge of the Casablanca area. I only go to the California of Casablanca to shop but do know there are English speaking ladies in that area. Please join the face book group of english speaking women in morocco as some of the ladies are on that list. I know that they come out on Wednesdays for coffee so you would have a good contact there. Do you plan to drive in Casablanca? If so you can live in Dar Bouazza but it is about a 30 min. drive to the school i do believe. I know you can hire a driver to take the kids back and forth to school for a very reasonable price if you wanted to. If you would like to contact me off list feel free to email me at DMouradi1@nc.r.com and i can give you my US phone number if you would like to call and ask any questions i might be able to help with. But i can assure you that if you are wiling to get out by cab or driving you will find Casablanca to have a great group of expats that are willing to help out. The woman's club is also a great place to meet English speaking ladies. Good luck!

Morocco: Moving to Rabat with pets:

Hi! I am no expert in any way about pets in Morocco. I did see dog foods in the Marjane (sp?) but did not really research them they did look to just be lower quality foods. Have you thought of feeding raw ? You would need to learn it and it would need to be made at home but i have had many people tell me their dogs are much healther after going to raw diet for they pets. Just an idea. I look forward to seeing what others have to say as we plan to get a dog once we are in Morocco. Good Luck! Dawn
