Cyprus: Buying a home in Cyprus:

my advice would be to tred very carefully. the property market in cyprus is swamped with 'developers' with no integrity and the island is swamped with ex pats who are still waiting for title deeds(!) - and dont think getting a lawyer will help you, they are just as bad. my advice would be to rent ...

Cyprus: relocation:

my advice is to be very careful. if you want to buy a business here, make sure you get sound legal advice. cyprus has some very very good business opportunities but equally some very very bad ones. there are a lot of brits that have found this out to their peril don't get me wrong, tere are opportunities aplenty but you need to take your time and suss out everything before commiting

Cyprus: Tips on where to start with a move to Cyprus:

Hi Sue, I couldn't recommend Cyprus enough to bring up a young family. However, the work situation can be tricky. There are no railways in Cyprus so your husband wouldn't be able to look there. In addition, without Greek it can be quite difficult to get work. Things are slowly changing here but very slowly (this is Cyprus)! Your best bet is to try to secure a job before you come out. There are emplyment agencies that can help like select and GRS so perhaps they could be a good start. IRT to housing, rental is a good option. To get a mortgage you need to be working (chicken and egg) Good luck on your research

Cyprus: RELOCATING , HELP ADVICE URGENTLY NEEDED:

hi - there are some good ones (minority) and bad ones (majority). I have a 7 year old son who has been through 4 of these before finding the right one. this one is run by a british guy with mainly ex pat kids, although some cypriots. the problem really is that the cyprus FA are a little in the dark ages on this sort of stuff, and tend to favour local (cypriot) coaches. However, things are getting better ... if you want to get in touch and perhaps join up with this one (they are looking for experienced coaches) maybe that would be better than starting from scratch. let me know if this is of interest and i'll put you in touch

Cyprus: i aman english childminder:

hi, with credentials like that you will find yourself VERY VERY busy in Cyprus - trust me! Decent child minders are like gold dust (especially english qualified ones). I (for one) would be interested and I know at least 7 other english families that would be to. where are you moving to in CYP?

Cyprus: do we come to live and work here:

hmmm...we've been here 4 years, have 3 (young) children, but working for non cypriots is a nightmare. unless you are REALLY lucky and get in with a British company then I would suggest you think again (sorry) We came here for the quality of life and fortunately have money to live on. if you come here expecing to earn a decent living then i feel you will be, eventually, disappointed great climate though :)

Cyprus: Finding work in Cyprus:

only advice i can give you is don't bother. cyprus is a beautiful place to live and bring up children, but if you think professional qualifications and business experience will get you anywhere think again. business in cyrpus (unless you are a cypriot and 'know' someone) is tough, very tough. most non greek, non cypriot professions find themselves cleaning pools. If you don't have the money to semi retire then I would suggest you look elsewhere. sorry
