Fiji: Moving to live with a Fijian partner - need advice:

Hello, I lived in Fiji for five years. I married a Fijian. I took my passport and marriage certificate to the Immigration and they stamped my passport and wrote a number on my license. That was it.. It cost about $5. I could come and go as I pleased. My ebook, The Other Side of Paradise (My Life in Fiji) by Jacqueline D. Brown is available where ebooks are sold tells about my life there. I'm available to any questions. Hoped this helped. Jacki

Fiji: Visa rules & travel advise...PLEASE HELP!:

Bula Emily, I didn't apply for a visa when I went to Fiji. I think you are automatically given a three month or 30 day visa when you arrive from the US. You can renew that for up to six months. I do think you should notify immigration that you are there and doing volunteer work. They may give you an extended visa right then. Though I am back in the States now, L.A., CA. I still keep in touch with a few friends there. If I can be of further help, you can email me at: lostlatitudes@hotmail.com. Jacki. Moce, wishing you the best in Fiji.

Fiji: Adjusting to Expat Life in Fiji:

"When you coming home?" I was asked this question often in Fiji. Assuming they meant when you going home where I lived in Fiji or back to the country I came from, this question annoyed me quite a bit. I would mumble that I still had shopping to do or that I planned to be in the country a while. There were other questions I felt were personnel but I tried to give limited information for answers. I felt they were being nosey. Finally, I asked a friend and he explained that "when you coming home" meant when was I coming to their home for a visit. The other questions which I felt were too inquisitive were asked because I was alone and they were concerned about me. This info helped me to become more accepting of the culture and thereby become more acceptable to the locals. They were looking out for me.
