Ecuador Welcome Forum: Tourist visa stay.:

They are no longer accepting applications for the 12-IX tourist visa. However, I was with someone yesterday who was anle to get a second 90 days. They had paid $50 for sn apucation fee then were charged $10 for the 90 days. It was called a VT. For Visa Turista I think. Not sure at this point if that will be standard pricing. They were required to submit proof of health insurance through the 90 days which they had through their credit card.

Ecuador: Visa:

The 9-1 visas are now obsolete. You first need to get a temporary two year pension visa. After 21 months you can apply for permanent residency. You could apply in Cuenca but would need all of the proper documents with you.

Ecuador Welcome Forum: Expired Visas:

Good news for those with expired visas or tourist stamps who want to apply for resident visas. For a short time the ministerio (at least in GYE) is allowing those without a valid visa to apply for residency. To do so you must have arrived in the country prior to November 2015 and not left since. This is a short term program so if this is your situation, it is now possible to apply without leaving the country.

Ecuador Welcome Forum: Cedula:

This is an issue for many expats. It can take along time for the info to show up in computer systems of businesses etc. Any questions should be addressed to the Registro Civil that issued it. But they aren't too quick or concerned about resolving the isdue in most cases

Ecuador Welcome Forum: Residential Visa:

You must have all your documents in order to apply. Once they accept your application, it doesn't matter if your T-3 tourist stamp runs out. Processing time depends on where you apply and what type of visa you are requesting.

Ecuador: anyone in salinas, guayaquil:

This has been going on for years. If these things are that important to you, why didn't you come get them yourself, especially when you learned the person involved had died? She passed away many years ago. She at well have thrown them away. My mother recently died, and I ended up throwing out many things while cleaning out the house. I have no idea where a lot of the things originally came from. I think you have to realize that the daughter has no legal obligation to you. And other people are unlikely to want to get involved in a mesy situation on your behalf. You want the daughter to send eight boxes worth of things back, but do you have any idea how much that would cost? She has no legal obligation to do so, and may not be financially able to. It is a shame you don't have your stuff, but it is puzzling that you sent valuable items to someone you never met. Considering that the person involved has been dead many years, I think chances are slight that you will get anything back. But if you think it is still worth pursuing, then why not come and try and get your stuff yourself, instead of getting others involved in what is likely a sticky situation.

Ecuador Welcome Forum: Pension Visa:

I am a facilitator who has been assisting people in obtaining visas for over 13 years. Personally, I am shocked by some of the prices charged by some relative newcomers. I am very open about the prices I charge. $500 for pension visas, $600 for investor or professional visas (additional steps required). That does not include government fees. I generally have my clients obtain their own visas. It is relatively easy to do and I provide instructions. Why pay hundreds of dollars for someone to do something you can do yourself. All visas must be applied for in Ecuador, with the exception being one Canadian consulate that does them. I recently was sitting in the visa office and heard an attorney explain how a family of four should deposit her fee into her bank account. Her fee of $5000! That did not include government fees. I about fell off my chair. It was also apparent that she lacked basic knowledge about US documents, telling the family, they could download the FBI report from the internet! I was horrified.

Ecuador Welcome Forum: Visa Documents :Apostilled vs Notarized:

You cannot translate your own documents, for obvious conflict of interest reasons. When you say you are applying in the in the US, do you mean someone is applying on your behalf in Ecuador? Because you cannkt apply for a rwsident visa at a US consulate.

Ecuador Welcome Forum: SENIOR DISCOUNTS:

To get the senior discount, you are supposed to show your cedula, to prove you are over 65. They are then supposed to enter your cedula number into the system. I say supposed to, because although that should always happen it doesnt. For utilities, you can get the in your own name if you rent. I rent, and mine are in my name. You have to have your landlord fill out a form permitting you to do this. Depending on the utility though, you may not be able to claim half the utility price unless you are the owner.

Ecuador Welcome Forum: My take on Guayaquil:

Thank you for sharing your positive experience. I love my adopted city. Yes, there are dangerous areas, butuch of the city is vibrant, and interesting. My family and I have lived here over 13 years now, and I love soamy things here. There are many expats here who have lived in Guayaquil for decades, many of them working professionals.
