Is there anywere on Margarita Island to buy good cheap housing in a local villiage?

I'm thinking about coming to the Island and seeing what it is like. I'm 58 yrs old and would like to retire overseas. maybe buy a villa on the beach. I don't want a condo. Do you think the Island is a good place to retire? I would like to visit in the near future. Thanks Dennis
