South Africa: Buying an Existing Business:

Hello Expats Is it difficult to buy a small business in S.A. What are the restrictions and what is necessary. There is not much online I can find that clarifies what an expat coming to S.A. must do in order to own and operate an existing small business in S.A. Perhaps a professional who is a member of this site or someone who knows one can offer sound knowledge to apply. Thanks ever so much

South Africa: Americans in South Africa:

Don't give up hope. I recommend making a trip there. Most of the sites and exchange boards online have more folks coming from countries other than U.S. heading to SA. While I was there I only ran into 1 American who was working in Capetown as a real estate conveyance attorney. He was single and apparently had stayed there long enough to obtain permanent residency. It's not easy but you can do it with determination and never getting intimidated by people who may have negative views about anything such as America or Americans or anyone for that matter. Know your craft or expertise inside and out but be prepared for the very competitive global market. Good luck.
