Switzerland: Zurich classifieds:

Anybody know of any type of good classifieds webpage for Zurich? I'm looking to buy several things for my apt. that would be a lot cheaper used. Just can't seem to find any classifieds aside from the ones in the free newspapers around town. Thanks!

Switzerland: US taxes while working in Switzerland:

Hi, Unfortunately the job I'm being offered in Zurich loses some of its appeal due to having to pay taxes in two countries. Do any of you US citizens here have an idea of roughly what is the percentage of TOTAL Swiss + US taxes being taken out is? I've heard between deductions and exceptions, I can count of paying roughly the same percentage in taxes as if living in the US. I think the person that mentioned this based it off a 150,000 CHF/year salary. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Switzerland: Race in Switzerland:

From what I've seen in my visits, people are fairly liberal in Zurich. They don't have as much immigration from non-european countries as the EU so you don't see as many black people as in other places. There is however a healthy Asian population. I've never heard any rude comments regarding race or religion there and school kids of all colors seemed fully integrated. People do tend to stare at anybody that's not the norm though, especially older folks. Just my two cents.

Switzerland: Importing guns into Switzerland:

Hi, I have a small collection of WWII rifles and pistols and I'd like to know if I'd be able to import them. I know Swiss citizens can keep guns but don't know if that extends to foreign nationals (I'm a US citizen). Any info would help. I've contacted the embassy but have had no reply. Thanks, Andreas

Switzerland: American TV set?:

No it will not work. Voltage isn't a problem with most newer tv sets, but digital format is. I have an LCD HD tv that I thought would be OK but its not. Digital tuners in US TVs are ASTC while Swiss ones (like the rest of Europe) are made to decode a format called DVB. So avoid the frustration and leave your TV in the states.

Switzerland: Moving to Zurich in 2 months:

Hi Vicky, I'm interested in finding a house outside of Zurich since my wife and I have two medium size dogs. Would like to be out in the country where we can be closer to nature. Have any areas/village names that I could look in? Cheers, Andreas
