Egypt: Shall we move to Cairo??:
Hi,
Will your new company be paying your rent and school fees, since neither are cheap.
As long as you stay out of the UK for at least a year you will not pay tax on income which is not earned in the UK, ie your salary here(although you may have to pay Egyptian tax, better check). You will have to pay UK tax on income arrising from there, ie if you rent your house.
Good luck
Egypt: Australian moving to Cairo:
Look,
I don't want to p*** on your chips but these other guys are giving it to you through rosy specs.
Unemployment is the biggest problem that these guys have, unless you have a specific skill, the local job market will be tough and any job will be on local terms, ie a low LE based salary and no rent paid. Rents for decent places are not cheap and you may have to pay in $. Come here first and put a toe in the water before you dive in!
Egypt: Tennis Partners ??:
Hi SIDS,
I'm the same, it's been about 15 yrs since I played seriously, used to play three times a week in Jeddah. I am knocking the ball back to my better half at the moment who is trying to learn, might be a good idea to get a regular game and save on the alimony!
Am in the process of moving house from Kat Heights to the area outside, but am still a member of the tennis facility there. Would be good to get a few guys together for a regular doubles game, moving to each district in turn.
Look forward to hearing from you.
David
Egypt: What did I forget?:
Why would you want to come here YaBesha?
You can get about 90% of what you can get in the West, but as you are going to find out, to achieve anything here takes a hugely disproportionate amount of effort, Ya Sallam!
Egypt: $150k salary in Egypt:
This is pretty vague!
Will you or will you not be on ex-pat terms? Dependant on your personal circumstances this will involve between $50 to $100K per anum.
Are you responsible for your own tax, it's pretty much a flat 20%. Car, housing, health care et al?
Short answer, if is $150k and no add ons then its OK but not great
Bangladesh: Help please:
Hi,
Sorry to be gloomy, but your daughter is in big trouble. Bangladeshis are amongst the most vicious and deceitful people in the world. Normally this mainly entails violence etc to each other, but she seems to enroled herself in their club
Islam, especially in a country like this, is not something which you just walk away from, if he had truly converted, then he would be in mortal danger from his own family amongst others.
I lived for four long years in Dhaka, and can safely say that with the possible exeption of Saud Arabia or Northern Pakistan, she could not be going to a worse place.
If she gets on that plane (hopefully not Biman), you are unlikely to seeher or your grandchildren again.
Egypt: marriage in egypt:
"after our marriage we will be applying for a uk visa for my husband, i want us to live here "
What a suprise!!
Egypt: Relationship with an egyptian man?:
Class is not the issue, but type of job and as a consequence the salary most definitely is! These kind of peple earn about ten bucks a day all in, and you cannot conceive how they live.
Enjoy your holiday romance and call it quits.
Egypt: Advice on Life in Cairo:
Hi mate,
Yes $5k is OK. Check on the exact appartment which they are thinking of giving you. If a cash allowance, accept no less than $1,500.
Good that you are getting a driver, what nobody else seems to have mentioned is that the standard of driving here is appalling, and I'm comparing it with my last three postings, Lagos, Jakarta and KSA!
GOOD LUCK
