South Africa: FROM LONDON TO J'BURG:

Hi there, I am planning on moving to J'burg in the next few months. I have recently received a job offer so I'm very excited. Is a monthly salary of R30,000 (pre tax) enough to live off? I visited in August and absolutely fell in love with the place. The next step is for my new employers to apply for my work permit. Will this be difficult to obtain? Also is it common for companies to help with relocation expenses? I know the crime rate is a big concern. Does anyone have any survival tips? I won't be shipping any furniture, just a few boxes and clothes. Does anyone know of any companies in the uk that deal with small moves to SA?
