Kenya: Good Portable Internet Solution:

I'm moving to Kenya and I'm looking for a good internet solution that I can use in both Nairobi and Kisumu. I'd rather not use internet cafes, or landlines. What has been the recent success with VSAT and Wireless options in both these regions. If I use one of these options, can I take it with me to the other city without any hassle? How about mobile phone tethering? DSL? What is the overall wait time to get a solution in place?
