Laos: Considering a Move:

Nevermore - pretty sure most would agree that Korea and N. China aren't even remotely similar to Lao. If you're looking for that type of lifestyle, culture, etc you will be disappointed here in Lao. If you're looking for the opposite side of the spectrum while staying in Asia, then Lao may be for you.

Laos: Looking to buy a motorbike:

Hello - we have recently arrived in Vientiane. Does anyone know someone selling a second hand motorbike here? I would be interested in a second hand dirtbike, or a second hand road motorbike (Honda, Kolao, Suzuki or other) with taxes paid. I prefer at least 100cc engine. I would like to pay less than $500 for a basic road motorbike, and willing to pay more for a dirtbike, depending on condition. Also, is there an email listserve for expats to receive emails when motorbikes and cars are being sold? Thanks for any information someone may have. Best, Adam

Laos: Moving to Laos March 09:

Hi all - We are moving to Vientiane next month and we will bring our pet dog with us. Can anyone tell me if it is common for expats or Laotians to have pet dogs? Is it acceptable to allow dogs to run in public parks? Do most rental houses allow you to have a pet dog? And on another note - what is the preferred means of transportation. Should I buy a motorbike, or are falangs allowed to drive cars also? In Vietnam, it is very uncommon and restricted for expats to drive cars, so we all had a motorbike instead. How about Laos? Looking forward to getting out there!!
