Philippines: Questions about dating:

Mrs P is correct this site appears to attract Americans who are only interested in cheap booze, cheap housing and cheap women and if they have spent any time in the Philippines it was in the 1970's. The Vietnam war ended years ago and the modern Philippines looks to Korea, Japan and China for social trends. If you want to find a modern woman stop living in the past.

Philippines: Trying to relocate. Fin. Advisor, Oxford TESL Trained. Need a Job. Thanks.:

Man this made me laugh. First you say you built up a successful financial advisory practice - can't be that successful if you are looking for work. Now you want 2K a month assuming you mean USD at 43 PHP/USD you expect 86K a month - in your dreams -) you obviously have no idea of earnings in PH. You want a job with a major bank? Have you done your research as to want banks are out here? What can you offer, can you speak Tagalog, do you know Asian business culture? A TESL certificate is of little value when PH has graduates half your age who would be over joyed to get 500 USD a month and would work a 60 hour week to get it. There is also the issue of obtaining an employment permit. You think wealthy Filipinos keep their money in a bank? They keep it in property, they support their families, they start their own business, they buy gold or keep the cash offshore. Come to PH with the attitude that you are better and worth more than the locals and you will be just another dumb gringo to fleece.

Philippines: Baguio hotel/B&B for Panagbenga:

Any of you guys who live out there know of any hotel/B&B that has vacancy for 21-24 Feb? TIA

Philippines: Just Got Back/Not impressed..:

Clean streets in London, friendly people, honest police - in your dreams.

Philippines: Masbate City:

If you plan to live here long term you may be interested in the SRRV visa full details can be found on http://www.pra.gov.ph/main/srrv_program You can either do the paperwork yourself or use an agent to help you. Like all government bodies PRA can be slow and unresponsive so I used an agent who I found to be very proactive and obtained my resident visa, bank account and tax registration within 10 days. Even the head of the PRA acknowledged that was a remarkable achievement.

Philippines: Medicine in the Philippines:

Watsons can be found in PH http://www.watsons.com.ph/

Philippines: visa's:

If you are looking at the SRRV scheme you could either ask the PRA and wait ages for a reply -) or do as I did and talk to a PRA accredited consultant who understands all the ins and outs of the various visas and who can speed the process along. Try MCGConsultingPH@yahoo.com

Philippines: Condominium advice in Manila:

Depends on what you consider to be affordable. For first World standard facilities I would go to Bonifacio Global City. There are plenty of good condos in that area and you benefit from not having the crowds and pollution of downtown Manila. I can recommend the Avant@The Fort which I booked through Avantrental@yahoo.com. They are also on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/avant.rental

Philippines: Retirement Process while in Philippines:

Use a good PRA accredited agency such as MCG Consulting Services (MCGConsultingPH@yahoo.com) to speed the process along. It took me 5 days to get my visa using MCG.

Philippines: reasons to "escape" to Philippines:

I can only agree with the comments made by others and say that the UK is exactly the same which is why I made the move to the Philippines. I made use of the SRRV visa open to anyone over 35 (I am 36) which enables me to live, work and invest in the Philippines and it comes with attractive tax advantages. It can be obtained within a few weeks and requires minimal paperwork and a modest returnable cash deposit. Use a good PRA accredited agency such as MCG Consulting Services (MCGConsultingPH@yahoo.com) to speed the process along. The country has many disadvantages but as well all know so does the West but for those with vision it also presents great opportunities.
