Kuwait: Anybody working for CSA Kuwait:
Hi Kristen,
My husband works for CSA. They do allow families to come over. You're husband will just have to contact HR and basically rent out the other half of the apartment they provide for you guys. But remember CSA's contract was up Sept 09 but got extended until about March or so. Also, as far as the 90 day visit visa goes. All this means is that you must leave Kuwait after 90 days. I know a lot of people who fly out to Bahrain or Dubai in the morning and return to Kuwait in the evening. Flights to Bahrain or Dubai are pretty cheap from here and the re-entry visa for another 90 days is about 3-4 kd or so. Anyways, good luck, You will find there are lots of families here who do this.
Kuwait: Bus System in Kuwait:
I would not ride the bus system here. It is not reliable time wise and I personally would not feel safe. That's just me. Before I got a car, I had a taxi driver that would take to the church for 1.500 to 2kd. If you like I cangive you his #
Kuwait: Job offer in Kuwait:
Hi,
First I want to say if you are American or Western the Jahra is not the best place to be especially for a female not in abbaya. Just my opinion and is also based on things I have heard from embassy and military camps. Also is this a new school? If so I know the one you are talking about. The people are nice but they do not want to pay. If it were me and I was a single female then I would not want to stay in Jahra. Otherwise Kuwait is a pretty nice place. You should dress respectfully and not wear shorts or tank tops. No alcohol so if you like to drink then you will have to go out of country on weekends like to Bahrain or Dubai which is fairly reasonable in price. But if you have a family with kids it can be rather expensive as expats must educate their kids in the private schools
Why not apply to other schools such as American school of Kuwait or British school of kuwait. They will pay much better and offer nicer accomodations. Now is also the time to get in with schools here because the new year is starting and many teachers are not renewing.
Kuwait: Wtb: elliptical machine:
I am interested in purchasing a used elliptical exercise machine. If anyone has one in good condition at a reasonable price please list so I can contact you.

Kuwait: CSA - Non FPO Employees:
Hi Benzo,
I can tell you they have some good and bad. Like promising a promotion, being trained for it and then when the time comes being told the paper work was never submitted and HR hired someone else. This is a pretty common thing at CSA...bad communication skills all the way around!! As a non FPO you will prob have a car or share one. Yes, the contract has been extended until about March 2010 but make sure you get the specifics about whether there are any housing and vehicle changes going on after Sept (when the contract was suppose to end)
Like the other person said...if you haven't been offered anything better with another company then take the job w/ CSA and whenever the other companies contact you jump on them and get an ever better offer. Plus once you get here you can do some major networking and get even better and more direct contacts!!Also, many companies like Dyncorp are having open houses here in Kuwait.
Good Luck

Kuwait: Homeschoolers and stay at home moms:
Hello everyone,
Just wanted to post a quick topic on homeschooling and stay at home moms in Kuwait. If you are one, I am interested in starting a support group. I have not found any support for homeschooling here and most people don't even know what it is. So, please feel free to respond and maybe we can get something started.
Thanks
