Ivory Coast: for home / english speaking friends:

Dear Smd8583 It depends on where you will work. Lots of expats live in Zone 4 and that's advisable if you also work in that area or Platau. If you have children that need to go to school then Cocody or near the US embassy would be advisable. I did try to look for you on FB but no success. We are also looking for English speaking friends Randel

Ivory Coast: Gasoline or diesel in Abidjan?:

Hi I don't think it really matter. Service stations (gas stations) are all over the place. I have a diesel and don't really look for petrol. Yes the diesel here are of poor quality, but nothing we can do about it. Keep in mind that the roads are also not the best. A SUV would be a better option than a sedan, if you can. Hope this helps. Ivory Coast: what is on his mine?:

Hi I think it's only normal to want you girlfriend to meet your family. But before we get to that issue.. Have you ever met this person in person or is it a Internet relationship? As I live in Abidjan, Ivory Coast I almost weekly hear of Internet dating scams. It's big business here and they are good at it. Every week we hear of people being coned into sending money or arriving here and sometimes bad things happen to them. Get in touch with you embassy here and ask them what the situation is. Regards

Hi Gigi It was like reading my own posting! We will move to Abidjan on 27 July with 2 beagles. One was born in the Philippines and traveled with us to Guatemala, our home for 2 more days. We will travel to Switzerland for a Holliday and then Abidjan. For Our youngest beagle it will be the first time traveling. We will be living in Cocody and I am not sure if I can walk my dogs. I am following my wife around the world who is a Swiss diplomat. Lets keep in touch and at least the dogs will have a play buddy. As for jobs. I know the Swiss Ambasador is a very big sponcer of the Abidjan zoo and need loads of help. I am planning to see if I can help him in any way. There are also a great dive club, GERSMA (PLONGEE SOUS-MARINE) · Diving

Guatemala: A Few Basic, Silly Questions from a Newbie:

Hi You made my day. I understand your problem. It's sounds like my mother. 1. In the 3 years we lived in Guatemala the power maybe went out 5 times and for 2 or 3 h at the most. It also depends on where you are thinking of settling/visiting in Guate. The rural areas outside of Guate city are more prone to blackouts. 2. Most people have sel phones and the service are reliable. Again if you decide to live in the north of Guate it might be different. 3. In Guate city and the big city's outside the capital Internet are very common. The speed is 2g, what they sell you but it's a bit slower. Never had any problems with service. 4. All homes in the middle and upper communities has running water and services. Depends on where you want to to live, but I think this should not worry you. Hope this helps. Why are you visiting Guate? Will you retire or come and look for work? Regards
