Taiwan: Represent Taiwan in the 2009 Asian Gaelic Games:

The Taiwan Celts are an expat Gaelic sports club in Taiwan. Our members come from all over: Ireland, England, Scotland, Australia, US, Canada... Our 2009 season has just begun and we have lots of sporting tournaments and social events planned for this year. The main event each year is the Asian Gaelic Games, which sees Gaelic teams from all around Asia meet to compete over a weekend, in Men's and Ladies Gaelic sports. This is one of the biggest annual sporting events in Asia, officially recognized by the Gaelic Athletic Association of Ireland, and a fantastic opportunity to play sports, have great fun and meet new friends. We welcome all expats, guys and gals, interested in getting involved. We have regular weekend training sessions to introduce the skills of the games to you newbies, and you'll get to see and take part in proper games. You can contact me directly by email at anthonylonergan@yahoo.com, and checkout our taiwancelts website for more information at taiwancelts.com See you on the playing field...

Taiwan: Adjusting to Expat Life in Taiwan:

Hi Certainly for people not accustomed to life in Asia, moving to Taiwan can have many initial difficulties. I think the language barrier adds to other pressures, and can cause a lot of frustration when trying to express yourself. This is not so bad in Taipei, where more people can speak English, but in other locations such as Taichung, Hsinchu or Kaosuing the ability to speak basic Mandarin will really help you along. I would recommend trying to pick up some of the basics of the language before you come, and quickly find some other expat friends who can give you advise initially.

Taiwan: Moving to Taiwan:

For anyone moving to Taiwan and looking to meet some other expats, I recommend getting in touch with this group: www.taiwancelts.com As a member I can tell you it is a great group of guys and girls from many different countries, all of whom have been living and working in Taiwan for many years. If you play a bit of sport, all the better ;)
