Germany: Radio Positions in Germany:
There are more opportunities in the USA even with our current crises. Have your German man move to the USA. If you get married, and have children in Germany it will break your heart. I have seen too many very unhappy expats in Germany trying to convince themselves and others that they are happy. Your children will lose out on the opportunities, flexibility, and diversity. Think long term!
Germany: Study in Germany:
University of Augsburg offers a Computer Science program. http://www.uni-augsburg.de/en/programs/subjects/
Germany: special education in nuremberg/erlangen area:
Franconian International School in Erlangen is expensive however not as expensive as the Munich International Schools. Some older well established international schools have professional in house for special needs children. The southwest region of Germany has a great school, well established, a little jewel called Black Forest Academy it is a christian school. Beware of International schools less then 10 years established, and ask around, visit the schools before moving, and before making a commitment . Parents have been brought to tears when making the wrong choice in schools.
Germany: How easy is it to get job in germany?:
If she comes as your spouse she will not be able to work for at least 3 year. However if she seeks employment before she comes and has a written offer from an employer she can work and she does not come as a spouse. Siemens and Nike are in Erlangen just north of Nuremburg. NCR in Augsburg is looking for qualified IT people but Augsburg is 1 - 2 hours by train Germany is in need of IT professionals. Look at the classifieds on Toytown.
Germany: Language learning and friendship:
Welcome to Germany! You are a short train ride to Munich. Munich is an international city, with many nationalities. You may want to find an international women's group online, and contact a member for information on their next social gathering. Munich has english tours to see the city sign up for one of the tours and meet others. Get yourself out and smile when making eye contact your smile will throw people off. If you don't feel comfortable saying gross Gott, then say Guten Tag, but always greet a shopkeeper when entering an establishment. You will find international minded Germans usually your age that would love to befriend you, but be patient, it doesn't happen overnight. Sign up for a VHS class in your village, cooking, german, painting, yoga, anything that might interest you. Just do something!
Germany: expats lining in Augsburg:
Good Luck! Do you know any german? Living in the Bavarian countryside can be very difficult, and lonely. If you speak some German you could teach English through the VHS village programs. There are better areas in Germany, I know this now after living in Augsburg for several years. Again, good luck!
Germany: Teaching in Germany:
Are you talking about the Adidas Near Nurenberg? If so, there is an International School In Erlangen Just two stops north of the Nurenberg main station. The school is the Franconian International School. All subjects are taught in English except for German. Expensive but seems like a good school. Every year the International Schools are looking for teachers.
Germany: Considering 2nd expat assignment, this time Germany:
We are expats from California. We have been living in Germany for the last 7 years. We have two children in middle school, now. One started in the German Elementary school and the other in Kindergarden. The first two years the teachers had some understanding of the hardship we faced in school. However, once our eldest entered the three grade there was no sympathy from the 3rd grade teacher. So we pulled the children out and went to northern Italy for three years and had better luck. Returned to Germany last summer, enrolled the children in the local International school in Augsburg. The school is completing their 4th year of existances. Being a new school they still have many things to work out. Look for a well established school, and try and get in contact with a parent who has children at the school. The German public schools will eliminate all your childs motivation. Research the International schools and stay away from newly established International Schools example Augsburg and Ulm. Look at expatriate sites for reviews on International schools and visit the schools.
Germany is beautiful and being from the city we were immediately attracted to the countryside. We lived in the countryside for 3 years, and felt very isolated. We heard the same from other expatriates. However the second time around, we are living in a small city with many benefits of a big city. Also, be prepared for the stares, it doesn't matter what you're wearing or how you look, people just stare.
I would recommend the book "Living and Working in Germany, A Survival Handbook." If you search your UK community you will find someone who has lived in Germany. We have known a few families from the USA and the UK who have returned to their homeland because of the harsh culture. At the same time we have come to know a handful of wonderful German families.
