Brazil: Trucking Jobs in Brasil:
@ Trucking Jobs,
Probably not the salary you would be interested in , most jobs without univercity degrees pay a local salary with which most Europeans and North Americans cannot survive in Brasil.
+ a whole world of doos and donts," getting along" with highway police, danger of very frequent highway robbery and other "rules" you have to learn trough experience , would probably not make it worth yr while IMHO, on the other side if you are highly specialized in some form of trucking, dangerous goods, heavy lift, nuclear waste , it might be worth enquiering with Brazilian companies , once you speak fluent portuguese.
Gd Luck!
Brazil: Natal-Brazil:

Brazil: Leaving NYC for SP... am I crazy... advice pls!:
I have lived and have property in SP, but last time I was living in SSA, However school fees are the same all over and unfortunately you cannot avoid them as public school teachers and employees are so underpaid they have no other option but to go on strike, and are demotivated by their low salaries. Safety has become a disaster, last week friends (Brazilian middle class) have been held up (again)at gun point a 3 pm in a decent neighborhood .
If you compare the cost of living with places like Thailand for example, you will realize that Brazil , which was once a destination with a very attractive cost of living ,has prices now comparable to many countries in Europe , but lacks the infrastructure , safety, education and health facilities. If you make enough dough however its a great place to live !
Brazil: Last questions before moving to Brazil:
OK About TV there is a difference of Hertz here I think here is 50 and Europe is 60 or visa versa, so basically European TVs don't work here, same as many other appliances, had a friend do his move from Belgium and he had problems with most appliances even washing machine pump was not functioning ! So that sorts out a good part of yr. luggage . Dog, first a vet certificate of good health accompanied with rabies shots at least 30 days old and less than a year. then you need to go to the ministry of agriculture to certify the vets documents, then you go to ministry of foreign affairs to certify min of agriculture certification with all that in hand you go to a certified translator and have it all translated to Portuguese Brazilian and with that in hand you go to the consulate for approval of all the documents and a paid for stamp saying its all conform.
Once you have your protocol for your residence you have 1 year to bring your move, electronic equipment is allowed but not more than the normal household number of appliances , no motor vehicles whatsoever. However all furniture and electronics can be brand new or used Sorry about yr. Italian football, check out on the site of SKY.com.br which italian channels are available , they also have a european football channel

Brazil: Moving to Itajai with dogs from The Netherlands:
Hi, What was written by Petventura is basically correct, let me tell you how I proceed when I import/travel with dogs from Belgium.
First you need a health certificate and rabies shots/ vacination delivered by a certified vet, with this document you need to have it validdated by the ministery of agfriculture, then the whole lot has to be translated by a certified translator, once this is done you can have it autenticated by a brazilian consulate or embassy and thats it (if the dogs are traveling with you, which is the best option), I only ever imported dogs via Sao Paulo, so I dont know if you have to inform prior to arrival in other aiports, but you will most probably clear customs in SP ?
any more info dont hesitate to mail me joedecoene@yahoo.com
Brazil: Need info on shipping:
Dog to Brazil: There are two ways
One you travel with your dog , this is the best way and exempts you of paying import taxes, which is the case if you ship your dog alone, but we wont get into that , basically you need to go to e vet get the rabies vacination at least 15 days before travelling and not more than 6 months before traveling, + the normal multiple vacination like fort dodge 9. Then you have to go to the local ministery of agriculture and have the certificate validated and stamped, with this inhand you have it translated by an official translator and with these documents in hand you have them officialized by the nearest Brazilian consulate , beware that this all takes time , and sometimes they might even tell you to come back next week to pick up the officialized documents from the consulate , best to inform yourself beforehand . The danger if papers are not to the customs official upon entry is they give you a choise of returning to country of origin or sacrificing you dog at you own cost ! I have traveled to Brasil with dogs now 4 times and have imported dogs from South Africa to brazil 3 times ovr the years Please feel free to mail me for more details , there is also a very helpfull blog on Orkut called Pet cabin seehttp://www.orkut.com.br/Main#Community.aspx?cmm=16358830
good luck

Brazil: auto shipping to Brasil:
There is no problem on importing a used car, the only thing is you will be charged import tax on the price of an equivalent new car , and import tax is 100+%
So buy local its cheaper plus you will find parts when needed.
Good luck
