Chile: problems:

While the government is trying to solve various problems and is concerned about them it appears that some just won´t go away. A report last week stated that Medellin is safer than Chile. We also have a serious problem with drugs, Chile is now the no.5 consumer of Cocaine in the world. Also although we have a new law regarding drinking and driving it appears to have little affect. Can we solve the problems of crime and drug abuse. Let´s hope so or we will not advance as a society.

Chile: Looking for land in the mountainous boonies:

well you may have to get ready for another year as things are not like in the U.S. where you can buy and close in a month to 90 days. Then of course you want to build that process may require an architect, a lawyer, approval from the local municipality, then finding a builder and protecting the building materials. The process is very lengthly and complex and the best thing is to have a lawyer who has been approved by your embassy.

Chile: is it soccer or riot time:

I can´t understand why it seems that every soccer game there is a group of thugs that bring guns, knives, bottles, brick, etc and start a riot. I think that if this continue the government should shut down the stadiums for a few games.

Colombia: SHIPPING personal stuff to Medellin, Colombia:

certain items that you mention may have a different electrical system and require a transformer. I would reconsider taking items that would as the cost might exceed that of buying a new tool.

Colombia: Visiting Cali:

Hotel Versailles , safe and clean and resonable.. Just make sure you cehck your bill if you eat in the restaurant

Chile: US Govt. Pressures US Banks to Stop Businesses & Customers From Sending Foreign Wires!:

wells charges 75.00 regardless of the amount. This is part of Obamas plan.

Colombia: Ripped off in Cali-need Help:

this really sounds like one of those scams: I´ll share the profits with you if you recover my items just send me x dollars and your bank account and password. Is this gy for real? Why did he first smuggle the items into the country and secondly why not report it to the police.. Does he think people are so stupid?

Ecuador Welcome Forum: obamacare:

There seems to be a lot of confusion on this subject, if it will be the same as medicare which you pay into but cannot receive benefits abroad. It appears that obamacare will be under a certain amount of control of the IRS . I suggest that you call or write to both SS and IRS. and just hope you get an answer.

Ecuador: upholsterer:

It will probably cost you more for shipping and taxes than it would to buy new ones.

Chile: Living Expenses:

expenses depend upon where you live, however in the past few years cost of living has risen and I would say that it is about the same as most of the U.S. AS far as your medical care is concerned you will not be covered or reimbursed by medicare, although it will be deducted from your SS. Any medical expenses will be out of pocket.
