Dominican Republic: Working in the Dominican Republic:
I have two French friends who have a small solar operation up in Las Terrenas. They already have a Dominican company registered and might well be interested in welcoming you in.
They have had small contracts all over the country but are only 2 guys with some Dominicans whom they have trained.
They are looking to broaden their operation.
If you come down here, I can send you up to meet them.
GREAT business here... there is already a Puerto Rican business group that is doing the installations of solar panels in the Free Trade Zones...
I know them as well.
What we really need is an operation to BUILD the panels here. There is one, but it is Spanish and mainly exports to the UK
It would take a big operation to get the money from the IDB to set up a plant but if there were a group of you...
PLUS some MAJOR Dominican backing... it could be done.
AND WOW do we need it..
c-mon down!
Dominican Republic: Retirement in the DR:
Just wanted to introduce myself as an American who retired here to the DR five years ago and might serve as a resource for other Baby Boomers who might be thinking of coming.... specifically .. urban single women.....
I live in the Capital of Santo Domingo.
Dominican Republic: Adjusting to Expat Life in Dominican Republic:
The DR has long been a destination for sex tourism so if you go to one of the beach resort areas you are going to see a lot of this and be approached by a lot of people for this.
If you are interested in this, you are never going to be accepted by any of the respectable Dominicans who live here.
Although life in the beach areas may appeal to many from the outside, know that some of the towns are more expensive.
