Global Expat Forum: Canadian need help:

Hi Ayman5, Why would you want to move out of canada, while me and my husband are trying soooo hard to get into canada:) ???

Canada: Info needed for move to BC:

Hi there, Me and my husband both got job offers in Surrey BC and is moving in the next 2 months or so ( from south africa) , depending on how long we are still gonna wait for our Work permits, which apparently takes quite a while. We decided on Canada for its strong economy, beautiful scenery ( that i've only seen on television and internet :) , and of course for its low crime rate , compared to here in South Africa. I would really appreciate it if anyone can help me with a few questions , which i cannot find the answers to on the internet. 1) As i said we both got jobs in Surrey BC, myself as a social worker ($4518 pm) and my husband as a Linux Engineer ( $5200 pm ) , our combine salaries $9000 after deductions ($108000 a year). Is this combined a good salary to live on , and will be living a good life. Can you also indicate more or less what our expenses would be in a month like utility bill , food etc 2) I've read in quite a few places that working in Surrey is fine, but not for living. Could you suggest any nice neighbourhoods , we had White Rock in mind , from what i could see so far it is really a beautiful area, but i think its gonna be quite expensive. 3)Are we able , going on a 2 year workers permit to buy a car / house , and how would that work? I thinks this is the lot :) Any answers or help would really be appreciated. Thanks in advance :) Regards Esmaree

South Africa: Advice on moving to SA:

Hi there, If i understand correctly you are from Australia, why do you want to move to South Africa?? I've lived here my whole life ( 25 years) and last year decided enough is enough. Me and my husband got a job in Canada and are just waiting for our permits and were on our way. Yes, south africa is a beautiful diverce country, and our people is friendly and helpful, but to be quite honest from my point of few thats about it at the moment. *feeling bad to bad-mouth my country which i love dearly*. But we have to face reality. Jobs is Not that easily obtainable ESPECIALLY when youre cocasion. Crime is Very bad, even worst in JHB.If you havent been raped, hijacked , mugged etc, youre not in JHB. Why do you think south africans immegrate yearly by the Thousands?! As i said earlier on, i love my country, and it will always have a place in my heart, but you have to be realistic about your future and those of your children. I maybe a critic, and there are people that are going to disagree with me ,and thats fine, everybody are entitled to theyre own opinion, which are gonna be changed later if not sooner when they loose a loved one due to crime here, or end up in hospital themselves, because someone wanted to rob them of a R20 and felt the need to shoot them for it. For those who have never experienced it and believe they never will.. Good for you, and i dont wanna be in your shoes when you wake up someday! So, Please do rethink your decision on moving to sunny south africa. Hope this help. :/
