Some Forum Posts:

Ivory Coast: Coming to Ivory Coast + Meet People:

Lots and lots of ppl to connect with across all ages. Age means nothing out here and we all party together. :) If your better half grew up here then it will be even more easy to meet ppl asap. Almost the stock standard place to first go to would be Ché Cafe. Seems to be entry place into Abidjan :) Lots to do. You will love it here.

Ivory Coast: Weekend Events for Expats in Ivory Coast:

Join us at LA BOULE BLEUE on Thursday, September 15th to play Petanque, this very french and funny game! It’s time to develop your skills! CASTEL-SOLIBRA will sponsor the night, allowing Solange to offer a special formula: get your 13 500 FCFA ticket and enjoy an unlimited open-bar :) How will it work? We’ll be waiting for you on from 7pm, sipping some refreshing drinks while waiting for everybody to come. All the names will be put together in a big hat and sort out to make teams and at 8pm, the competition starts! Like a tennis tournament, there will be various games until there’s only one winner left! Come over! LA BOULE BLEUE Rue des Majorettes - zone 4 Bietry Abidjan

Ivory Coast: English Movies - Every Tues night at Prima, 9pm:

Hey guys, Just wanted to let you guys know that every single Tuesday evening at 9pm they show the English version of a movie at the cinema here - At Prima. [as you go through the Prima gates, then on the left is the food shopping centre and then on the right there is another building, the building on the right is where you find the awesome surf shop: Kame and the movies. :) I think it was 3000 cfa. (The movie house is next door to the surf shop(Kame), upstairs)] I have watched The Box, New Moon and Sherlock Holmes and many other new movies so far :) Air conditioner, pop corn downstairs and the 'idea' of a cinema :) Its a nice way to do something chilled. Enjoy! You can see the poster on the Rue Mercedes side (to see what movie is playing) P.S take something warm with you as it can get very cold inside

Ivory Coast: Expat meeting tonight(wed 20th) at Havana café 7:30pm:

Wednesday, October 20th at 7.30 pm at the Havana Café (Zone 4). The club is located in Zone 4, near Prima Center, in Rue de Mercedes, facing Socida. The night is featured with free Salsa lessons from 21.30 and we have all reserved for us the pool area in the back of the Club. To make all of you happier, a *formula* has been arranged exclusively for InterNations including a free cocktail drink, some tapas to fulfill your empty stomachs and another drink to cool you down after few salsa trials. Ivory Coast: Moving to Abidjan August 2010:

bsena1316: Hello! You really really should come to the coffee mornings that happen every single wed morning at a different ladies house. There is a huge group of us and its a great way to get info on where and what to do or get things. Usually meet and just chill and then afterwards a few of the ladies go for lunch. Always guaranteed good laughs and a very diverse group of ladies from all ages. :) contact Petra Bal : info@perogivi.nl

Ivory Coast: Mixed Couple Moving to Ivory Coast:

As far as I know there will be NO problem at all! There are alot of mixed couples out here. I guess maaaayyybee the only thing is that there is a hell of a lot of prostitution out here and so you see a load of that out here. But from my view, I think no probs. :)

Ivory Coast: The Meeting Up/Going out Thread:

Hi there! Well I have only been here about 2 months but I have been extremely lucky and have met loads of ppl that love to get up to all sorts of things during the week and weekends. :) From scuba diving, hash, drinks, volley ball, ladies nights, coffee mornings...etc etc. So instead of posting something new all the time, I thought why not make a thread where we (anyone who knows something) can post: any get togethers, parties, drinks, dinners, coffee's, meet and greets, social events. Then ppl can just check this thread to see what is happening and then can choose if they want to join or not. It will enable a lot of us to get to meet some new ppl. Warm Regards, Olivia

Ivory Coast: New, need friends and work:

hey! Well I kinda fell into teaching English at the moment and I have only taken one one school child as I have my full time studies. But after awhile I started getting requests from lots of ppl. So if you still want to get involved then I think I can help you out. :) Where you from? I'm South African. As for friends, well I'm meeting such awesome and wonderful ppl at the moment and I do not speak a word of French - I want to but with the studies I haven't been able to study the french yet. Soon soon, once these blasted assignments are over... blegh... We sometimes have an english speaking dinner on a thurs...like this thurs And there is an English speaking coffee morning that happens every single wed morning at a different house each week, great ppl there. My mom goes every week so she can take you along if you want? Where you staying in IC? We are living in Marcory.

Ivory Coast: New in Abidjan:

Hey! Well I posted here awhile ago and we are now in Abidjan! Whoop! I am 24 and studying through a international university (UNISA) based in South Africa (where I come from). My father has been working here for 2 years and my mom and I have been living in Ghana while he commutes back and forth. But for business now its better to be in Ivory Coast full time so me and my mom have moved :) I have been here for 1 week and am still trying to get used to everything. Shopping wise its been pretty much Prima and Cap Sut (food shopping is), we live very close to them. We have a Ivorian lady helping out with the house and the cooking and she has been chatting away at me in french til her heart is content and all I do is smile :) hahaha! She must think I am stupid. :) Hoping to start the French lessons REAL soon. I went and checked out Calao gym and I think I will sign up, they really have amazing classes so I'm keen. I think thats all I can say for now, if you want to catch up PM your details and then can take it from there! At the moment I'm just discovering a little bit everyday. Oh, met a woman from Belgium and her 2 daughters and they are having a tea/coffee meet and greet thing tomoz morning (Wed), apparently this happens every single Wed at a different ladies home and its for English speaking ppl. So I will find out the details and post soon! Keep well!
