Brazil: Cellphone recommendation:

Oi or Claro were worse in the past but today they are much better. They are even better compare to the crooked AT&T or Sprint here in the US..those two rip you off in front of your eyes with their fake unlimited data plan.

Brazil: Young single woman moving to Brazil:

Portugal has ZERO to do with Brazil. You will do fine in Brazil, they need foreigners, they need more people with skills and Brazilian people are more secure and make friends easy compare to a person from the US or UK, who are more concentrated on themselves.

Brazil: Home Schooling in Brazil Legal or Not?:

Here more info that home schooling in Brazil is NOT illegal. Ignore the idiotic websites typed by morons from the US and know nothing what is outside their borders. Really, those people type whatever they want, but don't travel to do research. You get so sick of them that perhaps it's time that Brazilian close it's borders for US citizens. http://thebrazilbusiness.com/article/homeschooling-in-brazil

Brazil: Which factors make expatriation successful?:

"The US govt in particular is looking for people like us " Well typed Andy, that is so true. Myself am Dutch citizen living for now in Miami. I will NEVER apply for US citizenship because they are harrasing those people world wide to collect more money (taxes) what they need desperately. No wonder many US citizens are denouncing that passport.

Brazil: Xenophobia in Brazil.:

stephen, actually, and that's a fact because you can check it yourself in your passport, is that your nationality is not american. Look it up. I repeat, American is not your nationality. Okay, that one. Second, where on earth aren't they xenophobic? Even in the US it exist where many feel inferior when you have a better education, because according to them, that is only possible in the US. And yes racism exist everywhere, grow up and if you don't like it there, just leave, go back to Obama land..lol.

Brazil: Moving to Salvador da Bahia:

Florianopolis, located in the state of Santa Catarina, is a beautiful city where in a beautiful state where quality of life is high and where the population is more white, but still friendly. That's one of the main differences between the north east and south of Brazil.

Brazil: settling to Rio Grande and Sao Jose do Norte:

Hi there, I'm sure you will feel comfortable there in Rio Grande do Sul as an Italian. The old "italian" traditions in that state are still alive and thriving, just like in other Brazilian states. Perhaps you can ask info about Sailing in the city Rio Grande through this website:http://www.iateclubeguaiba.com.br/ They are in Porto Alegre but they have contact with all the sailing clubs in the state. Once you're setled there, you can easy ask for information about buying farm land there. There are some restrictions for foreigners, but it's not impossible.

Andy Neil is right . Life in SPC or the interior of the state of Sao Paulo is just snapshot of life in Brazil.

Brazil: Schools in São Paulo -:

Hello Kine, I'm Dutch and I share my time between Miami-FL and Sao Paulo - SP for work, untill I can work and live permanent in Sao Paulo. The great neighborhoods you should study / look in to find a great house or large enough apartments for your family are in the following neighborhoods: Vila Madalena, Pinheiros, Iberapuera, Itaim Bibi, Brooklin, Moema and Mooca. Those are great middle and upper middle clas areas in the city of Sao Paulo. There you will find many choices of schools that will fit your standards. More info for schools you can find at this great website http://saopaulo.angloinfo.com/af/250/sao-paulo-schools-and-international-schooling.html You can also contact them. Brazil: Delinquency in Rio de Janeiro:

Hi there. Petty crime in Rio de Janeiro - RJ is just as high compare to big cities in Europe and the US. Crime such as gang war (youth with garbage in their head) is high compare to cities in Europe in the US (mainly Los Angelos metro area). To live in Rio you need to be prepaired to count less on the police and to protect yourself by using comon sense. Act and do like the locals and you shall be fine. In Brazil you don't have the right to protect yourself with a firearm, but you have the right to protect yourself and private property. To protect yourself and private property with a firearm, read the rules at http://www.dpf.gov.br/servicos/armas/armas. It's not that difficult, but neither to easy. It has been proven many times by independent researchers that Brazilians who were being mugged many times are the same people that refuse to protect themself. Remember, the police, no matter how trained well, cannot and will not protect you 24 hours. It's your responsibility. Don't be afraid in Rio, but use comon sense.
