Ireland: taxes in ireland:
I am thinking about moving to Ireland. I am a single male, no dependents. With a gross income of 30-35,000 Euro, what would be my approximate net income?
(After taxes and medical and social security insurance deductions)
thanks!
Germany: American expat in FFM needs a helping hand.:
Hi - My name is Steve - I am an American expat in Germany - I live in Frankfurt. I am a health buff who takes alot of vitamins.
The German government is very strict on having vitamins shipped here - they have very strict requirements on how strong the vitamins can be. If they are too strong they will not allow them in. It can be done, but you
need a doctors prescription and you have to have it stamped by a pharmacy.
I have done this, but it is SO much red tape...
Why am I writing ? If I had access to an APO box, I could have the vitamins shipped directly there. The owner of the APO box would then pass them along to me. That way I could bypass the red tape. I was thinking at least someone out there may have connections to the military (you need to have military ties to have an APO box and I don't) and might be willing to help me out...
I would pay for all costs (they would be paid for with my credit card so there would be no cash due) plus 100 EUR a year for your trouble. Would only need to do this 3-4 times a year at most. I am talking vitamins C and B and a few other supplements -stuff you can buy in any health food store in America. I would buy them from vitamin mail order firms in the states and have them shipped to the APO box.
I know this is an unusual request...
Believe me, there is nothing 'funny' going on here. I am just trying to save myself hassle - so much German red tape....
If you have had any dealings with the deutsche Behörde, I am sure you can relate!!!
I would appreciate it very much!!
Germany: To rent a room near or in a city for few month:
hi
I would suggest going to the local mitwohnzentrale...
They have people who either are looking for roommates or have room(s) available on a time limited basis...
www.homecompany.de
www.mitwohnzentrale.de
or go to www.yahoo.de and search on the key words..
Good luck..
finding decent affordable housing in Germany can be a hassle....

Germany: taxes:
Hi Tim..
If you are getting paid in DM or EUR I believe you are subject to the same taxes as a German would have to pay...
As far as tax liability in the U:S - it depends on how long you are out of the country...
The rules are complex, but in general if you are out of the US for either a calendar or chronological year, the income is exempt from US taxes up to a limit of about 72,000 I believe....
If you don't meet this residency test, I BELIEVE that the income is subject to US tax, BUT you can somehow claim credit for the tax you paid in Germany..
I am not a tax adviser - the rules are complex...
I believe Form 2555 instructions (IRS) is what you want to look at...
I THINK you can get back the social security contributions you make to the German pension system if you stay here less than 5 years...
That one I only heard about - and it was a while ago...
Good luck..
As I said, please verify... Form 2555 is what you need to look at...

The German government is very strict on having vitamins shipped here - they have very strict requirements on how strong the vitamins can be. If they are too strong they will not allow them in.
Switzerland is not strict. I would like to have an address where I could have vitamins shipped to in the Switzerland. The person receiving them would contact me on receipt and I would come to pick them up. I will be willing to pay 100 EUR a year. Would only need to do this 3-4 times a year at most. I am talking vitamins C and B and a few other supplements. I would buy them from vitamin firms in the states and have them shipped to Switzerland.
Thanks!

The Netherlands is not strict. I would like to have an address where I could have vitamins shipped to in the Netherlands. The person receiving them would repackage them and send them on to me in Germany (no customs) or else I would pick them up. I would pay for all costs plus 100 EUR a year. Would only need to do this 3-4 times a year at most. I am talking vitamins C and B and a few other supplements. Germany: Soon-to-be Grad moving to Germany:
Hi
First thing I would do is go to the Arbeitsamt website (www.arbeitsamt.de) They have a website with job postings.
Another good web site is www.jobserve.com
Hope this helps!
Good luck!
