Switzerland: Areas of Zurich:
Everything is possible if you have the money for it...
You can look up flats on http://www.homegate.ch (in English!).
Zurich & environs have excellent public transport - so you don't have to stick to the center. If you know where you are going to work, looking up the relevant local train lines (S Bahn) would be a good idea.
English is not so widley spoken here, so make sure you have the rental contract read by an objective german speaker.
Switzerland: work in Zurich:
What sort of a job are you looking for ?
do you hold a NZ passport or a European one (it's much easier to get a work permit with a European passport).
The company I am working for has english as a working language - you can contact me on corcog@yahoo.com.
(they pay finders fee, hence my motivation)
Israel: Publications for US Expats in Israel:
I am not sure about expats, but if you need info about emmigrating to Israel (making "Aliya") have a look at www.aaci.org.il
