Colombia: cost of living, utilities per month?:

hi, i'm thinking of setting up a small guesthouse in either Cartagena or santa marta. could someone tell me what to expect to pay in utilities per month... electric, water, phone, waste. if you could give me the adverage cost for a single 3 bed house, i'll just double it. from what i've read online, different zones pay differnet charges? really hope someone can help me with this. thanks

Canada: Toronto of Vancouver, for work?:

Hi, i'm thinking of a move to Canada, a 1 year work visa. I'm a web/graphic designer... Origionaly I was gonna head to Vancouver, but a friend's just come back from Toronto and reckons that I'd have a better chance of finding work in Toronto... where to go?

South Africa: Advice on moving to SA:

yikes Esmaree... i was in south africa for a month and a half last year and loved it... cape town's a fantastic city... i never had any trouble, and did experience alot of white paranoia (i'm white myself) that said, i have read stats and realise there is a big crime problem... also, i have heard it's hard to get work if you're a white... you're post has made me re-think a little... i'd love to live in south africa.. and dont really need alot of money, just enough to live and enjoy life....

Laos: Living in Laos by 2010:

good info there... ok, here's where i'm at.. i was in laos last year, and i've got a pretty good business idea that i know would work... from what i've read on here... can i just get a business visa and start doing business? can it be that easy? i met a swedish lad in thailand who was burned bad by his thai girlfriend, he wanted to set up a hostel type thing... so, i'm a bit wary. so, couple of questions i hopw someone in the know could help me with. 1) do i really just need a business visa to start a business? 2) i'd need to rent some land, it's a outdoor activity type thing... how would i go about this? 3) hiring locals and even backpackers... is this all done cash in hand? 4)insurance? i've done tubing... and it all seems very lax... good ol lao.. do i need any.... basicly... is this possible? cheers
