Saudi Arabia: Unmarried in Jeddah??:
Yes you will, plus u have to have it translated and carry it with you at all times as the metowah will ask to see it. Jeddah is a little more open than Riyadh where I live. My husband and I have been stopped several times, even in the car by a policeman / metowah, and really he should not have stopped us then, but here they do what they want. Also if you rent outside the reality office will ask to see your igama / marriage license, as most likely your landlord will too. Hope this helps.
Saudi Arabia: HouseMaid For Hire:
Most maids work 6 days a week, and pay their own taxi. And they do not receive 2000SR. Good luck.
Saudi Arabia: Igama:
plus you cannot open an account at the bank until you have your igama, so be sure to have money to survive....some companies give you money upon arrival, our hospital does.... Also bring extra passport photos as you will need several to give them for igama, etc. I just looked at mine and it has a plain white background. Hope this helps
Saudi Arabia: back to riyadh:
I have lived here for several years....right now nothing happening. I recommend just to cover when you are out and be aware of your surroundings. And of course take Limos not taxis for your safety.
Saudi Arabia: stained glass:
Actually years ago a friend of mine bought stained glass here, of course what they showed was nice, but once she got it the work was not good. So I think you probably can. This shop was on Takasussi, down the street from King Faisal Spec Hospital. I have seen crafts in some of the larger book stores. That is all I know and it does not answer your question exactly.....So try and bring all you can with you.
Saudi Arabia: Moving to Riyadh:
Hi I am a married female but I can tell you what I know. If you are going to live on a compound you should have no problems. The big compounds like Jedawah (sp) have parties every week and I am sure the guys will help u in that aspect. It is restrictive. An unmarried man and woman are not supposed to be together...even in the car...You can be stopped. Even in restaurants I know several who have been put in jail...you always run this risk if you are out with an unrelated female. At restaurants there is male only and family (single females and people with families). Hope this helps
Saudi Arabia: going soon KSA:
I work at King Faisal and our group wear navy pants and White shirts. Can u contact them. It would probably be better to bring ur clothes if u have problems finding ur size. I will try and find an email address or phone number and send 2 u.
Saudi Arabia: Please Help!! Any nurses hired under single contract in Saudi that have been sucessful in bring husband in under resident visa once you got your IGAMA?:
I work at a large hospital and I know a couple, she works, he does not. They have been here for several years. He is retired. So they can make exceptions....Here it is based on your grade and she is in management.
Saudi Arabia: Newcomer:
Try hooking up with someone from British Aerospace. They have pub nights, etc. I am American and went to one, a friend of mine was dating a Scot. Get urself invited to parties, or just show up. Most people do not mind people coming uninvited but on compounds they may have to sign u in so that may be a problem. If you want to contact me u can and if I have ur permission I will send ur email to a Canadian I know that has a boyfriend on a large compound and do they party!! my email is
mzabdu@yahoo.com
By the way I am American... Take care
Global Expat Forum: halp with safari:
Just a note of caution...I would be very careful about booking with an outside Safari Co. Your safety is more important than money. I went to Kenya/Tansania and I know it is expensive. These companies are everywhere in Kenya but some of them do not stick to the regular tourist treks and tourist have been robbed and murdered, some chased by armed bandits. Just after I left it was in the paper an American tourist had been killed as they were being chased by armed men, probably poachers, and they came up on them. I have heard the crime is even worse with the immigrants fleeing worn torn areas.
I went to Samburu, Kenya, Masi Mara, Tansania. Not trying to alarm u, but just be careful.
