Ecuador: wireless card in Ecuador:
Hello fellow vagabonds my first time posting here. I recently spent a year backpacking throughout south America, using Internet cafes now and then. I must be lucky; have read that their computers are notoriously insecure, but never had problems. On my next trip, however, i will bring a little "sub notebook" style computer. Here's my question: I can rent a wireless card from Sprint or ATT for $60 per month, but am thinking that I could rent one for much less from a local(Ecuadorian, Argentine) company for much less. Is that feasible, or do these
companies require that I have a local billing address to start service? Also, if anyone has tips on Internet security when using Internet cafes it is much appreciated. Thank you, Jon in Omaha
Ecuador: the Gringo effect:
Hi Guys! I'm well aware, when looking for rentals, that there are "gringo rates" and
'local rates". What is the mechanism for getting a local rate if one is not a local? Does someone need to vouch for you, or ? Thank you, Jon in Omaha
Ecuador: visa:
Hello expats in Ecuador! Question: In Argentina, I was able to leave the country for a day and, upon reentry, get a new 6 month visa. Can I do the same in Ecuador? Also, are there any 4th of July parties planned for recent arrivals? Gracias, Jon Williams
