Some Forum Posts:

Ecuador Welcome Forum: getting around:

Yes, you can rent a car here with your USA Driver's license, or you can go to Triple A in the USA and get an International Driver's license too, with just your state one. If you rent a car here, note all dents and things that are broken so they don't make you pay when you return it. Take photos if you have to.

Ecuador Welcome Forum: more questions:

You can do all of those things.

Ecuador Welcome Forum: Price comparison-Montañita and Playa del Carmen,Mexico:

Lots of gringos have left Cotacachi to live in Ajijic, Lake Chapala, Mexico. Almost every place where gringos live has a Facebook page, look for it so you can ask specific questions.

Ecuador: Looking for dandelion root, burdock root, apricot kernels and more in Quito:

Tumeric root is available here in most all markets, called Curcuma. Also the powder is available. Look also for this across the steet from the Camari Store that I recommended above in Quito, there is a spice and dried herb and fruit place right there. Make a tea from the Curcuma Root and then eat the roots.

Ecuador Welcome Forum: Cuenca Heating:

Housing in Ecuador is not built with central heating. Best bet is to get a wood stove and have it installed if you have a house and that can be installed easily if you already have a fireplace. Wood stoves from Chile are sold in Quito, If in an apartment, go to Kiwi or other hardware stores to get elec. heaters. Home Basix is a brand that Kiwi has, they are decent units.

Ecuador Welcome Forum: Rental in Cotacachi:

Check out the cotacachi fb pages...."What's Happening in Cotacachi" and "Cotacachi Expats" ... for rental info.

Ecuador Welcome Forum: Where to stay in Quito, historic area ?:

There are two bus terminals in Quito, one in the south, Quitumbe, for locations south, and one in the north, the Carcelen station, and you will have to get there to get the bus to Otavalo. Leave early, as Saturday buses fill up for Otavalo from Quito. Be careful on the buses, nothing overhead or under your seat if you wish to hold on to it. From the terminal it will take more or less 3 hours to get to Otavalo on the bus, and the terminal in Otavalo is 4 blocks from the indian market. To get to the north terminal it is about a $6 taxi from the north, Mariscal area, and from the old town could be as much as $10. A taxi from Quito to Otavalo could run about $60 or a bit more. Taxi from the Quito airport to Otavalo, about $50.

Ecuador: Need feedback about Nora Minga:

Susan and others.....I have not looked at, nor posted on this fórum in SO long that I forgot my log in password for Achiku, one of two names that I have used to post here. Recently I wanted to share info about a good Visa Lawyer in Quito on ALL available fórums and pages, so had to use the "old" name, Boncur, because I had the password written down. Sorry, but you are wrong....never outed Susan as an operative either, ha, ha. I did out her as the gatekeeper of a certain fb page, nothing more, nothing less. The only reason I know about this post accusing me of something, is becuase someone I know who does read this fórum called it to my attention. Enough said! ...and bye everyone.

Ecuador: English speaking Visa lawyer in Quito:

English-speaking Visa Lawyer in Quito. I can highly recommend Oscar Valenzuela Morales for any visa work needed, his prices are lower than other visa lawyers. Oscar came to Ecuador over 20 years ago as a bi-lingual journalist from Chile. He was the founder of the two English speaking newspapers, Q and Inside Ecuador, which unfortunately no longer exist. Oscar went on to study law and get his degree, lives here with his wife and family and has practiced law for some years now. He has done Visa work for Arja Toivonen, the Finnish Artist, for Carlos Zorilla of Decoin, Intag, and many others who have been here some time, as well as newly arrived expats. We have been friends with Oscar for many years. He is honest and will complete your work, and communicate with you in English. His office is close to the Magic Bean in Quito...and his contact info is: Oscar Valenzuela Morales, Abogado Av. Amazonas and Foch Tel. 2 255-0366 Cel. 09 890-2890 email: oscarvalenzuela@corvasal.com valenmor90@hotmail.com Info@corvasal.com
