Colombia: Opportunity:
Your best bet is to teach german or english, and start from there. To make it easier you should obtain a basic teaching certification from your country.
I am working on mine here in the USA in order to prepare to go there. See my previous post on this forum, there is a link there with good info...
Good luck and let us know how it goes
Colombia: Looking for work in Colombia:
I am very interested in relocating to Colombia. Unfortunately I have not seen much activity on these forums regarding this country. If there is anyone outhere that has information to share about the best place to look for work within the country or best online sites.... please share! I am fluent bilingual in Spanish/English. Work in the IT and aviation industry as a program/project manager with an engineering degree.
Thanks! Mil gracias!
Germany: Spanish speaking people in Düsseldorf area?:
Hola,

Germany: Car sales question:
I brought my U.S. Specification BMW over here with me, but now I need to sell it. I noticed that the classified section is only for real estate. Do you guys know where theres a good forum that americans look to for car purchasing. I know this can be done since the embassy website has a section on it.

Germany: Divorce:
Try to call the nearest US consulate or the US embassy, they may have info for you. Also find out the info for the nearest American-German Club, American Womens Club, or even the American Business Association. Putting the word out in those organizations may lead to some pointers on how to approach the situation.
U may even do a rudimentary search on the German websites and use google to translate... Best of luck -ViD
Spain: Driver License:
Some info from the US embassy Spain website:
Drivers' Licenses
As drivers licenses are produced by state (not federal) authorities, you must contact the issuing state to replace or renew them. Some states allow drivers to renew or replace from overseas. Most do not. The Consular Section maintains an address list of state motor vehicle departments to assist you.
Germany: German Drivers License Dilemna:
Cant you just get by on an international drivers permit? Its valid for a year, and you can probably renew when your in the states on vacation....
FYI:
RECIPROCAL AGREEMENTS
The German Ministry of Transport in conjunction with the German Länder has approved exemptions to the practical (road) and theoretical (written) tests for license holders from: ALABAMA, ARIZONA, ARKANSAS, COLORADO, DELAWARE, ILLINOIS, KANSAS, KENTUCKY, LOUISIANA, MASSACHUSETTS, MICHIGAN, NEW MEXICO, PENNSYLVANIA, SOUTH CAROLINA, SOUTH DAKOTA, UTAH, VIRGINIA, WISCONSIN, WYOMING AND PUERTO RICO.
Partial reciprocity agreements (exemption from the road test) have been approved for: CONNECTICUT, FLORIDA, IDAHO, MISSISSIPPI, MISSOURI, NEBRASKA, NORTH CAROLINA, OREGON, TENNESSEE and the DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA.
Germany: moving expense:
Try to get it shipped out via your company. Otherwise find out from USPS what costs to ship boxes are. $21 per 100lbs comes to mind.
You can always get a quote from Allied Intnl, but be prepared to fall on the floor.
Germany: Neurenburg help:
Hi,
I kept my house in the states, and have it rented out while Im here. Ive rented a house here that would probably be 4x the cost of mine in the states. Its huge and much more of a house than what we have in the states, so I suspect you may be better off renting a one family house. Also wont have to worry about legal aspects of purchasing a home. Buying or renting will also depend on whether you are staying here for long.
Keep in mind that if you rent a house make sure the contract includes kitchen cabinets, appliances to include fridge, diswasher, and microwave. Also make sure it includes light fixtures with bulbs. This may increase your rent a bit, but its more convienient, than buying your own cabinets, appliances and utility fixtures. Then again I know people that bought there own cabinets as per taste and in coordination with landlord. My landlord was nice enough to install satellite dish also.
A collegue of mine purchased and renovated an 19th Century barn, but had to hire lawyers to work thru legal and landmark preservation issues.... A pain in my opinion, but there must be a good reason why he did it.
