Germany: Climbing/Hiking in Munich:
Hi! I must tell you that you will have NO PROBLEMS finding hiking or climbing groups in the Munich area. I have lived south of Munich in Oberammergau for more than 5 years. I can tell you that Germany has clubs for ANYTHING you might want to do. Check out the sites mentioned in this forum first. I do not know how good your german is but I would not let that worry me a bit if I were you. Also, there is a Hash group in munich called the Hash House Harriers. I think they have a web site but I am not sure what. Also, there are tons of volks marches throughout Germany and the BENELUX. You are in a great area to climb and hike! Good luck.-T
Switzerland: Living in Fribourg:
Hello! I married in Fribourg in December 2001. My husband (He's French speaking Swiss) lives there while I still live in Germany. (I am U.S. Military) I am interested in learning about any English speaking community in Fribourg or the surrounding area. I hope to gain insight on the local culture from an English speakers perspective, in an attempt to fit in a little better. I am also interested in finding French-English conversation groups. I am not exposed to French on a daily basis as I live in Germany.
Switzerland: Publications for US Expats in Switzerland:
Hi! I too have been looking for English publications... mainly on the net. Not to successful. My husband gave me a copy of 'The xenephobes Guide to Switzerland' for Christmas this year. (you can find it at amazon.com) I found it hilarious & sadly, it hits close to home. I saw my husband in the pages of this book. I would appreciate any other info you get on where to find English periodicals, magazines, etc.
