India: Best small town to Retire:
You can also look into Mysore. It is down south. 3 hour bus ride to Bangalore. Come down here. the weather is nicer:)
India: moving to Chandigarh:
If you must live in a city here in India, chandigargh would be a good choice. I am sitting in a hotel right now in Chandigargh.
I agree with much of what the others have said.
Local Beer is good
commute is good
weather is milder than Delhi.
Traffic is very mild.
city is clean and safe.
It is also only a 4 hour train ride to Delhi by the fast train.

in the most petty situations, people have to be aware of not being jipped or cheated. The common folk here live in the survival mode. they think that making a few extra ruppies today is more important than developing a relationship and looking for a postitive and a more profitable future with a client.
this also stands true with how Indians treat other Indians they do it to themselves also.

$1000 will take you far. if by chance you are into fitness, try to certify yourself in Zumba fitness before coming and you will have lots of offers.

US. Too expensive, too stressfull. I have moved to New delhi. I am back in the US to rent my house and bring my critters to their new home.

If you are tired of running errands for yourself, cleaning the house or even driving, India is the place for you. Any middle class American will be able to afford rhese luxuries.But, the main reason I am here is because I love the culture and the colors of everything around me.
