Turkey: turkey:

Hi. First of all, I have to say that regions in Turkey differ one from the other incredibly. Cities in the west coast compared with the east seem to be from another civilization. In any case, i write the cons of living in Turkey I can find after living almost for two years here: The mentality of Turkish people regarding the work, nothing is really important. All can be delayed. If you have an open-minded way of thinking, you will also "enjoy" this way of living, but if you are very strict and want things to be done immediately and in an "european" way, you will be frustrated many times. Burocracy is slow and tiresome. Another disadvantage -thought it may seem unimportant and childish, after some time living here you'll understand- is the lack of pork. Sometimes in some places you can find it, but it's rare and expensive. Means of transport are not so developped as in Europe, but you will find bus sevices are very confortable and easy to find. These are the things that just came to my mind, but in general, I would say that if you are not very strict and you are open-minded, Turkey is a very nice place to live (again, depending highly on the place)

Turkey: Importing a cat:

I have a friend who came to study to Turkey for 9 months and she brought her cat here without any problem. She could also very easily send the cat back to Germany. She travelled by plane normally.

Algeria: Working in Constantine:

Hello! I have been offered a job to work for a couple of years in Constantine and I don't know what to decide. I have been living already one year in Turkey, but I expect that Algeria will be completely different, in terms of culture, food, safety, etc. My concerns are if the country (city) is safe for a European to move there, if it is an easy-going city, if there are entertainments, etc. I would appreciate all your advices and warnings. Thanks to all!

Turkey: retiring to turkey:

Hello. I have been living already one year in Turkey and although I am young (31) I found Turkey a very interesting country to live. There ar many advantages and disadvantages of living here. As me and my expat friends say, there is love-hate feeling for Turkey. Advantages: prices, weather (west-southern coast is the best), beautiful non-crowded cities), welcoming and helpling people, "everything is possible" mentality. Disadvantages: low quality transport, not a lot of variety in food (I am spanish and i find food both in restaurants and markets not very varied), pork inexistent or very expensive, burocracy is horrible (in general everything related to government), language is difficult, and "everything is possible" mentality, slow behaviour. I would recommend that you choose a ciy in the south where there are foreigners but not so full of them (sometimes I feel I am not in Turkey in some of these cities, and it loses a bit the interest and the magic). what's the point of moving to a foreign country if everything will be as in yours? Whatever you decide, I hope it will be a good decition!

Turkey: Safe Banks in Antalya region:

Hello! I have been living in Antalya for a year and a half already, and I am using Garantibank. I would say that all of them are very safe, but this one provides easier ways for foreigners It is probably the most common and extended bank in Turkey and there is a help line in English! The web is also in english and easy to use. About safety, I feel my money safe, and safety procedures are sometimes too much for me. I have 2 different passwords, one of them changing every 2 months (i start having problems remembering them), every conversation is recorded, and so on. I have two accounts there, one in euros and one in liras. The change is without any commision. All my saves are in the euros account (currency is much stronger, of course) and use the liras one for daily life. I think you will really feel that your money is safe here.
