Panama: Plane from PC to David from Tocumen:
I had heard recently that the Tocumen airport would start offering plane service to David instead of having to take a taxi over to the Albrook airport. This was suppose to happen in March. Has anyone else heard this and if so have you heard when this service starts? That would sure make things easier.
Panama: Boquete, Panama:
I had emailed you awhile back when you were packing to move. I have questions about your experience and emailed you privately. Please check your messages when you have a chance and email me if you would like.
Thanks
Panama: Where do we look to live:
We are coming in on Tuesday morning. We are going to spend the week trying to find a place to move into. We are looking for an Expat area where others speak English....mainly because we have a pre-teen and he hasnt learned the language yet. We dont want the shock to be too overwhelming. We are looking at staying in the Panama City area, but I am wondering if anyone knows of areas that might have more of an expat community. We cannot afford to send him to the high priced American schools there or live in the high priced neighborhoods....we can only afford to pay around 1200 a month. But we are hoping for a family friendly area with other kids around. Any help you can give would be appreciated.
Also we are looking to rent a house that is 3 or 4 bedrooms, preferrably in a gated are and with a small backyard for our 2 small dogs.
Sorry to be so lengthy.
Panama: shipping your stuff?:
Just curious on the shipper that you used. I have heard stories from many people, but it seems yours was the only bad one. I would like to make sure that we DO NOT use them.
Thanks
Costa Rica: Questions about Moving to CR:
We are interested in moving to Costa Rica in a few months. I have noticed there have been few posts on here unlike other forums. I am hoping some expats out there can help answer some questions for me.
Is it worth moving our furniture there? If not, is furniture available inexpensively. What about electronics and refrigerators....things like that?
Has anyone brought their dogs over and what was the process for this?
What about private schools & the cost. Our child (nor I) know spanish. It will be a shock as it is...so I would like him around english speaking kids until he can start learning the language.
Are there certain areas that expats are NOT welcome and that we need to stay away from.
Also, what job opportunities are there. Is there the opportunities to teach English there?
Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Ecuador: transportation from Quito to Guayaquil:
Can anyone tell me the best way to get from Quito to Guayaquil. We are flying into Quito...but after much research, I think we wish we had flown straight to Guayaquil. Is it best to take a small plane?, or just rent a car & driver? And if you know the cost for each that would be great too. We only have 4 days there to get as much traveling as we can to decide where to settle down
Ecuador: Moving to Cuenca in Sept.:
I thought I had read somewhere else on the forum that they will not allow you in with shampoos, mouthwash & toothpaste? We are particular about those things so can you tell us for sure that they will allow us in with a suitcase full of these items?
Ecuador: TEFL vs TOEFL:
I have several questions about getting a job as an English teacher.
I am curious if there are any teachers on here. If so, can you tell me the difference in TEFL vs. TOEFL.
I am looking into schools, but I am SO afraid of getting into a bogus school or one that the certificate is not worth the paper it is printed on. Any Suggestions of schools i can take online?
Ecuador: VESPA:
If anyone decides to start a scooter club, please list it on this forum so we will know. We would love to be a part.
Panama: Home School Co-Op:
Kirk,
We are moving to Boquete the first of the April. We are planning to use Advantage. It looks very appealing online and there isn't the hassle of sending papers in to be graded and videos being sent back & forth. Might be worth checking out. http://www.advantagesschool.com/ is their website. Looks pretty intriguing to me especially seeing how everything works online.
Hope this helps.
