Brazil: Dependant Visa:
My suggestion would be to have the dept of health or some other govt agency write you an official letter stating that the two of you cohabitate....then you will have to have it translated by an official translator, in brasil, and submit it......which means that you would probably have to come to brasil on a tourist visa and then try to change your status. This might make you eligible for what is called a CPF number (not sure, thouggh).........for me to get married down here, i has to provide a document stating that i was not married. Im from the US and these docs dont exist there, so i had to get a letter from the dept of health. It worked...........good luck
Brazil: Beach House???:
Hi forum members
My extended family is looking for vacation beach house (or possibly houses) to rent over the Christmas holiday and I thought I would ask if anyone has any recommendations.
Details:
There will be between 20-25 people on the trip.
They are currently considering beach spots throughout Brasil.
As of now, the trip would last APPROXIMATELY from December 23, 2010- January 2, 2011.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Brazil: duel citizenship through marriage/ collecting SSDI in Brazil:
I am fairly certain you will need to complete the marriage in Brasil before opening the bank account (as opposed to when you arrived)--this is a semi-recent development and will probably vary from bank to bank, but President Obama's pressure on foreign banks have scared them away from taking on Americans as clients.....so, as mentioned above, you may need to get married and get your protocolo first. The protocolo is a number you get while you are waiting to be processed as a foreigner who can stay in Brasil indefinately (do not confuse this with citizenship), it allows you to stay past passport expiration, work legally, have a bank account.--if that makes sense, great. if not, shoot out another question......regarding medicare, i would recommend joining americanslivinginbrazil.ning.com and posting your question there as well. I think they have a lot of resources there to answer your question.
Brazil: HELP!:
Hi everyone, i have an urgent request. I'm selling my home in the United States and up to this point in the closing process, all of my signatures and documentation had been accepted without any US official notary. Recently, I was informed that our closing documents weren't considered official with any type of Brasilian government stamp/notary, even if it is from a certified translator. I live in Cuiaba in Mato Grosso. We are closing next week and I cannot get to Brasilia (the closest embassy) between now and then.
I have conferred with my lawyers and they have advised me that I do not need to physically be present at an embassy to get these documents notarized. I just need the stamp on the paper. That said, I need a way to mail to/meet with a US consulate or embassy official to get a notary stamp on my closing documents. If anyone can help, or has any ideas PLEASE pass them on.
Thanks!
