Australia: Were in Canberra?:
Hi,
Our company Australian Vanlines (Quality Moving Solutions) has a office in Canberra. I phoned my manager in Canberra to offer some assistance & he advised that some good areas near the Airport will be Ainsley & Campbell. Other areas to check with be Braddon, Harrison & Forde. The first two areas would be of preference if you have the opportunity. You can visit our website at www.vanlines.com.au & send an email for any further assistance required. Good luck with relocating the family.
Australia: Few questions about moving to Oz:
Please view this website for information on importing motor vehicles into australia. Its always a good idea for the vehicle to be owned for more than 12 months before shipping. However if the vehicle is in pieces then duty will be a lot less. Use this website as a base then contact DOTARS or customs and let them know exactly what you intend on importing to give an idea of taxes/ duty. Then contact the mover to discuss shipping cost. http://vanlines.com.au/customs/vehicles.htm also view http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/ for motor licensing in NSW (every state has different licence arrangements).
Australia: moving to Sydney from the US:

You can contact me via our website at www.vanlines.com.au & send an email for Sasha. I will be able to source out a few quotes for you to decide on a mover in the US.
Australia: need some hep for living info:
Hi,
Yes you are correct about the inflated fees for temporary residence, however its going to depend on the type of school. In Australia you have Public (government subsidised schools), Independant Schools (Catholic ect) & private schools. In my opinion the independant schools are brilliant & even though some are Catholic, they still accept children from different religions. The focus is on the education & the values rather than purely religion. Please go to our website & find links for schools in Australia.

Australia: moving to syndeynin five weeks:
Hi All,
You have many great areas to choose from when moving to Sydney. 30 minutes from the city could land you in any good suburb. If you want beach environment then go for Coogee, Bronte or even look at moving to Manly. The other side of the harbour bridge is less crowded & less tourists. You could move to a lovely area like Mosman or Balmoral. I have enclosed a link that may assist with real estate sites in Australia.

Hi Adam,
I am an ex South African too, however been living in Australia for 25 years now.
Being far away from family is always a concern, but thats a decision that you guys will need to make. I am in the moving industry & have seen about 80% of the people that eventually stay & the rest return mainly because of family. You are very fortunate to have connections in the country as this could be a difinitive factor. Returning back to the US with a pet is not a major concern, its just bringing them into Australia is where you will have Quarantine issues. Please take a look at our website & you will find links to quarantine & customs. go to www.vanlines.com.au

Australia: Moving to OZ:
I dont think you will have any problem. Ensure that you do your homework prior to relocating. Im in the moving industry & have moved people back to the UK within 1 year because they could not adjust without family & the changed lifestyle. I would say that 8 out of 10 people would love the place & would never look back, especially those with children.
