China: Moving to Shanghai:

Hi, I'll be moving to Shanghai but I heard that it can be a bit tedious..I don't have any friends in Shanghai and I'm not working there or attending any school. Is it difficult to move to Shanghai without any of these? I also need to find a place to stay temporarily until I can lease an apartment. Can someone recommend any good hostels?
