Global Expat Forum: Upcoming U.S. election:
Just curious to see what everyone's thoughts are on the upcoming U.S. presidential election. The only thing that I think most people will agree with is that it's an important one.
I think that the most important will obviously be jobs and the economy.
How will it affect expats? I'm guessing maybe tax changes? Repubs have been talking that one up, and obviously the current Commander in Chief is sure talking it up, too.
France: Born in France; what Rights might one have?:
Here's an English copy of French laws in PDF, although I don't think it's going to help you a great deal in that it doesn't seem to grant what you are looking for.
I found this on Google Answers about being born on a U.S. military base in France.
Again, I don't think you're covered in terms of hoping to qualify as a French Citizen.
France: Experience in Living in Bordeaux and Environs:
Here are a few things that might give you an idea for what the flavor of Bordeaux is like.
Base Sous-Marine in Bordeaux is a submarine base built by the Germans during World War 2. It now is used for exhibitions and live music, such as the recent 7th Jazz festival at the Base this past September (2011).
Beach rugby and other outdoor events are common in the area.
Shopping is plentiful in Bordeaux, as there is everything from pituresque boutiques to international brands you would recognize.
There is a Bordeaux Wine School, if that appeals to you.
The cost of living in Bordeaux is supposed to affordable relative to other parts of France, such as Paris.
It's pretty much everything you would hope. There are also colleges, such as the University of Bordeaux, which I find tends to attract even more cultural activities.
Not sure what advice you are looking for, but just wanted to add my two cents that it's a great place to visit and could see living there myself.
