According to the law, you absolutely need a work visa (B1) to work in Israel. To apply for such Visa, you have to: 1) Go to the Misrad Hapnim of your city and fill in a specific form for B1 application. 2) Take an appointment for providing all required information (Birth Certificate, Bank accounts, recommendation letters, etc.) 3) Take a second appointment for an interview with administrative clerc Your boyfriend will have to be present everytime with you during the administrative formalities. The process to obtain a B1 can take 3 to 5 months.

From the top of my head... 1. Be patient ;) 2. Everyone has an opinion on anything. Look (search) for the OFFICIAL source of information 3. Do not be afraid to negociate everything everywhere with everyone.. but be fair. 4. Do not wait for people to call you back. Be proactive. 5. Extend your network. Networking is VERY important 6. Always have a detailed map of roads network in your car... you do not want to get lost. 7. Winter is cold! Take warm clothes! 8. Administrative formalities can be impressively quick but also impressively slow (Misrad HaPnim for instance). Be patient and get up early! 9. Respect security procedures and constraints 10. Enjoy your life. Israel is a great country where you can live your life at 200%.
