Brazil: Work In southern Brazil (as an english teacher?):
Hello fellow expats!
I haqve finally made the move to Brazil after a year and a half of "planning" it.
Currently I am living with some relatives in Joinville, Santa Catarina. I am at the moment looking for english teaching jobs at local schools here.
I do have a bachelor's in psychology and a Master's in counseling, both from acredited Florida universities.
I am wondering if I can make a living teaching english, at least long enough for me to get my diplomas validated in a Federal Univeristy here in Brazil.
(i have Brazilian citizenship, CPF etc...so that is not a problem)
The only problem is the wait time for validation of my diplomas, and I need a job ASAP.
Brazil: Parana or Santa Catarina:
Hello all;
I am a 25 year old student, who by the end of December will hold Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling. However I do know that the psychology field in general, in brazil is a very hard profession to get into.
However, I am Brazilian, but I have lived in the USA since I was 11. I would love to live in brazil if even for just a year, but i do not want to spend all my savings and come back in debt. I'd like to experience living in brazil for a year, and possibly liking it and staying, but if I don't stay, I want no harm done.
With that said, I am very uniformed on how to go on finding jobs in brazil, I'm either looking for employment in Curitba, Parana, or Joinville, Santa Catarina.
I have family in both areas, but they do not have contacts that I need in regards to jobs...In Joinville it would be easier since I have immediate family there, but in Curitiba I only have friends in their early 20s...
Anyone has any advice? help?
( I have a cpf, and an Id...I jusr dont have a "carteira de trabalho" or a driver's licence..."
I also am worried about crime, and losing everything I saved (i am a student, working part-time, intern-shipping the rest of the time, AND going to grad school)
But it has been a desire of mine to experience living in brazil...
Brazil: Teaching at CCAA:
I am thinking about permanently moving to brazil, but first I will try to live and WORK there for a few months, around 3 months...has anyone worked with CCAA before? How do you contact them from the USA, or do I have to wait until I am in brazil to enter in contact about working for them?
Brazil: Grad student considering moving to SC, Brazil:
Hello all, i have read some of the posts extensively, and it seems most people are going with a company job.
I, on the other hand have just graduated with a bachelor's in psych, and have wanted to move to brazil since 2005. I have waited to finish my degree and now i feel like it's my time. However i do not feel ready, since i do not have a job. I am a brazilian citizen, but I have not lived in brazil since i was a child.
I have been back many times, for a month visit, and i love it there. truly. But i have never "lived" there.
What kind of jobs could i get in the south, if anyone has been to Santa Catarina? Oh and the driving part really scares me, I have only been a passenger in the road, but geez, I can tell how bad it is.
Brazil: I graduate from college in may and all I want to do is move to Brazil:
Hayley, I am in the same situation as you. I am a graduate from college and ALL I want to do is move back to brazil (i left it with my fam when I was 11). I have been sending a few schools (that teach English) my resume, to see if they are interested in hiring me. I am very scared of getting there with almost no possibility of a job. I will be coming to Brazil with no savings, but i have some family there, but I don't plan on relying on them much...so I am trying to set up jobs before I go...
Though, i do not know how much an english teacher makes, I HOPE, it is enough to eat, drink, rent, and go out on weekends...:)
