Uganda: Can someone shed some light on working in uganda?:
Difficult. 1st get an international job before moving there. But if you have capital, you can try establishing a business but be careful, business climate is in its worst period in decades.
Uganda: Moving From Canada to Kampala, Uganda:
visa: get a temporary visitor's visa for 6 months. You get it at Entebbe airport upon arrival. it costs $50.
During the 6 months as visitor, your senior Pastor employer will process a work visa for you. Passport is your travel id & identification. Thats all
Medical: Your employer should have a medical package or else you pay your self. Consultation with lap tests are very cheap compared to Canada. Kampala intern. hospital charges around $30. Medicine is very subsidized by the govt and costs far less. A malaria doze in Canada cost more than $150. In Uganda, it costs less than $15.
Prescription is good for you but even without Dr. prescription you can get any drug from drug stores & phamacists without consultaion fees. Even antibiotics are found over the counter unlike in Canada.
Before you go, take some vacines like malalia, menengitis, etc. Travels nurses / clinics in Canada will give you advise on what to take initially. buy enough to last you 3 months. the rest will be bought in uganda. Dont forget pepto bismol. Your tammy takes weeks before adjusting to tropical bacterias.

Global Expat Forum: Moving to Kampala Uganda:
There are many good international schools. Some follow US system others follow UK. Though I reside in Canada, I take my kids in Rainbow International school. They follow and sit UK exams.
The shool is one of the cheapest Intern. school. Fees range from $4,500 for elimentary to 6,000/ year for high school
1. Good areas to look for are those near the school- Muyenga, Makindye, Gaba, Munyonyo, Lubowa estate, Mbuya. By not crossing the city, you avoid lots of trafic jum.
