Brazil: How long to approve a Perm Visa applying from USA?:
I know peoples circumstances will vary, but I spent four months working with consulate in NYC and got nowhere. I came to Brazil on a tourist viisa . Although there was alot of running around and expenses getting every peice of paper imagineable certified I got my permanat visa in 3 months. I found the Police Federal here much easier to work with then the people in NYC

Can anyone tell me where baggage or boxes being shipped from the U.S. to Brazil are opened. Is it the first stop such as Rio or Sao Paulo. Also if they are opened, are they resealed.

My wife,native born Brazilian, and I American, are retireing to Florianopolis. I see these negative comments about Florianoplois from a working standpoint. What about retiring there with a monthly income of R4000.
