Peru: Awesome house on the river's edge near Iquitos, flexible dates:
Hi, I imagine your posting regarding housesitting is long past, but if you find yourself in a similar situation in the future I would be interested. I've always been interested in Latin América, very much including Perú. My first international experience was as an exchange student to Perú. In the mid eighties I was a Peace Corps volunteer in the Dominican Republic. Since then I have lived on a small diversified farm (complete with composting toilet) and rainwater cistern. I enjoy a quiet life close to but apart from the big towns. After 14 years I had to sell the farm due to family matters and the intention to relocate to another country. I have since spent a number of trips to the Dominican Republic for periods of two to six months each. Finally decided to broaden my search according to my original plan. That's an introduction. If you think you may have need in the future for a housesitter and you want to know more about me, contact me. Buena suerte y que pase buen día.
Panama: Carpet vs Tile:
Not to mention the humidity factor. Then there's the whole argument that carpeting harbors dust, mites and all sorts of allergens (including the inevitable mold from humidity). Tile is much cooler and easier to keep genuinely clean. The area rugs allow more decorating flair on a more frequent basis for expressing your personality and taste.
